Laliberte, Carcillo sign: updated organizational depth chart
More signings, more updates to our depth chart. Carcillo and Laliberte both signed, so leaving Darroll Powe and Matt Clackson as the Flyers' only unsigned restricted free agents.

Are any of the defensemen on the minor league side of the depth charts worth a damn?

Marshall, Bourdon and Lehtivouri. The rest are too young to tell, really, or they’re crappy ECHLers.

I am always curious of the legitimacy or guys getting into their 20’s and not cracking the line up. It seems real NHL talent is such by their twenties or they are relegated to journeymen fill-ins.

Yeah, agreed. Geoff can probably speak more about those three since he just saw them at camp.

How does Lauridesen look. Big body, just a 21 yrs old heading into his Junior yr in college. I think he was like a 7th rd pick. Any hope he might develope into a 5-6 Dman?

Not to douse your flame but the excitement over a blossoming 5-6 dman isn’t really doing it for me.

I’m not all giddy about it but whenever you can turn a 7th rd pick into a NHL player that’s a good thing for your organizational depth

Actually, I said something about him in one of the Prospect Day Recaps. I can see him becoming a 6-7 Dman if for no other reason than his size.
He was pretty impressive, but more as big, tough, character guy. I didn’t see him make many mistakes in his own zone, so I can see him being a solid AHLer who can make the NHL given an opportunity. Now, if he has to earn an opportunity, I doubt he’ll do that.
But I do like him.

Well, I think he has as much of a chance now as Bartulis did 2 years ago (When the team had Timonen, Coburn, Carle, Jones, Sbisa, Parent, Syvret, Kukkonen, Guenin, and Mike Ratchuk in front of him)

I’d say Gustafsson has potential. Having them as a top four in Adirondack should be really, really good. And he’s only 21, will turn 22 in December.
Outside of that: Stephenson is a career AHLer; Bodrov just went back to the KHL; Hostetter, Sloane, Blidstrand, Luukko, and Zarb are too young to tell. But I’ll bet that Sloane and Zarb are ECHLers…

Should we be annoyed about Bodrov went back to the KHL? Or was he not going to crack the Phantoms anyway?
Backing Backlund for 2010-2011
I’m annoyed by it, but I guess he didn’t think he’d get enough minutes.

I guess the top 4 sounds decent anyway. Maybe one of them can move up next year and he can come over for good.
Backing Backlund for 2010-2011
I think the plan (if there is one) is to have one of them either take over for O’Donnell when he becomes a FA, or to at least battle Bartulis for it.

Yeah, so what you’re saying is that we’re signing Adam Foote next year
