Gettin' naked: 'Wachovia Center' letters removed from Wells Fargo Center

For the fourth time in it's relatively short 14 year history, the building down at 3601 South Broad is getting naked.

Well, you know what we mean. The letters are being stripped off the Wachovia Center today, and assuming the project will take at least a few days, we'd expect those bright, shiny Wells Fargo Center letters to adorn the building by the end of the week.

Personally, I'm disappointed that they aren't removing the WACHOVIA letters in reverse fashion, so when the IA is taken down, it'll say, well... figure that one out on your own.

Goodbye Wachovia, hello Wells Fargo.

I agree it would have been funny if they did it in reverse fashion, but I’m sure that somebody can photoshop that and give us all a good laugh.

It could have been worse – they could have had two bucket trucks, and worked from the ends inward.

Maybe they’ll change the goal horn now? Please? Nah, who am I kidding. Who wants to hear actual fans cheering when you can listen to an ear-splitting fog horn instead!

Are you talking about the horn or the song…cause the song is pretty sweet and better then other teams goal songs like New Jersey or New York.

Just when I had it out, you put it back in.

Boston’s and Montreal’s both suck too.

I mean the horn. The song is fine, even if they stole it from Anaheim.

wasn’t there an issue with the loud goal horn causing the ref’s whistle to go unheard resulting in a disallowed rebound goal in the finals?

Say “Wachov” to yourself quietly. (Make sure no one else is around.)

That is hilarious!!!! I was actually reading fast and thought of it being the “Wacho” center, and thought of it as like the “Wacko” center, then I read yours and realized leaving the v on it, and it’s even funnier!!!
