So is NHL 11 going to have some percentage of goals that it knows are good called no-goals on the ice so they can then be overturned?

Contributor at The Brotherly Game, SBN's Philadelphia Union blog

by Ben Feldman on Jul 28, 2010 10:47 AM EDT reply actions

unless you are the away team playing in Pittsburgh. The cheat code can be enter so goals that are good will be called no-goals do to lack of replay evidence.

by chrislanci on Jul 28, 2010 10:52 AM EDT up reply actions

And all of Gagne’s goals that get reviewed will get called back no matter what they added that feature prior to the trade and will be unable to take it out even thought the producers know that since Gagne is no longer wearing Orange and Black his goals would stand.

by chrislanci on Jul 28, 2010 10:53 AM EDT up reply actions

One more thing too to pile on. Any puck that hits off Coburn while he is performing a shot block attempt will go in his net. I am preparing to move Coburn to forward and use him to block my own shots from the point to exploit this.

That’s so plausible I can’t believe it!

by hintzy64 on Jul 28, 2010 11:44 AM EDT up reply actions

The percentage will vary by team. All Flyers goals are disallowed. All Penguins goals count.

by Flyers on Jul 28, 2010 10:53 AM EDT up reply actions

I’m pretty sure one of the older NHL games had disallowed goals in it. This was back in the “foot in the crease” heydey I believe.

by Phalange on Jul 28, 2010 10:55 AM EDT up reply actions

Either way I like this. I was playing NHL10 yesterday on Be A Pro mode as a goalie, and I lost a shutout b/c a puck was kicked in…it would have at least made me feel better with the review. And if it gets annoying, you can always skip through it I’m sure.

Is this the right room for an argument?

by DLJr on Jul 28, 2010 11:03 AM EDT up reply actions

I think you’re right, but I’m not sure which one. I’ve played ‘99, 2k, and ’06. Still play ’06, haven’t been inspired to upgrade. :-p

Can we send Quisp some sort of gift when this Kovalchuk situation is over (perhaps one of those Christmas tree Devils jerseys with Kovalchuk’s name on it)? It’s awesome to see the attitude of ILWT being unveiled to more and more people.

Tons, actually.

I can understand the need for the NHL to use the WC as a marketing gimmick, nothing wrong with that.

But I feel like they could do that without constantly including the Pens.

by Phalange on Jul 28, 2010 1:00 PM EDT up reply actions

Exactly.

I can see the fact that not every team will get to be in the Winter Classic since there are more marketable teams than others, but the Penguins being in only 3 years apart with the Capitals. I was expecting the Caps this year though, and the Penguins are just Bettman’s favorite team so he has to have it at Heniz Field. I’m sure there will be an uproar if the Pens are in it again in 3 seasons.

I do like that this year there is an outdoor game in Canada, I hope that becomes a tradition every year as well.

Don’t want him. Too much money and he’s old. We have enough old people on our roster. If we do go out and overspend for a guy like Oswalt, then it will completely undo everything Amaro said he was trying to accomplish with Lee trade. I was OK with the Lee trade, aside from not getting best haul we could get (another conversation), but if he goes out and gets Roy Oswalt and we give up a crapton of money and prospects to get him, I’ll help all those folks with their pitchforks.

Yeah, I know—my Dad the other day says “Cliff Lee is a better than Halladay,” and I just shook my head. I love Pop, but he toes that traditional Philly party line like nobody’s bness and he doesn’t even listen to WIP! I say, Dad, the stats say otherwise. Whatever, Lee is a great pitcher—don’t get me wrong, I wish we had him—but so is Roy freaking Halladay! You can’t field an entire starting rotation of CY pitchers and hope to contend, unless you’re the Yankees with an unlimited budget. Just ask the Braves who did it with no regard for their BP or bench for years.

I tried keeping up with the JFTC argument but talking about paradoxes and the legalities of contracts makes my eyes cross. Just a quick little rant. Now to talk about the news today….

1. Yeah, not too crazy about the Winter Classic…I posted my thoughts when I first heard about it months ago.
2. If Talbot knows one thing, its a douche! (he’s one, the pens are d-bags)
3. Pens lose another winger, getting weaker by the minute.
4. Harts speaks the truth (except the whole, “its never bad to have too many D-men”
5. JFTC and ILWT are spatting, reminds me of a week or so ago with BSH arguing with SCH over a sammich.
6. NHL 11 might become most frustrating hockey game to date…

and that my friends, is the straight talk.

Philadelphia Flyers/Columbus Blue Jackets...don't ask me how.
