Right smack in the middle of where each party wanted the salary to land, an arbitrator awarded goaltender Antti Niemi $2.75 million this morning. The Blackhawks were apparently hoping for something around $2 million, while Niemi's camp wanted more than $3m. GM Stan Bowman now has the option of rejecting the offer, making Niemi a UFA, accepting and keeping him, or accepting and going for a trade. Now that we know the salary, the question needs to be asked again: would you like the Flyers to go after Niemi, should he become available?
