I sure hope he says “I reckon” a lot.
I.e., “I reckon I love makin’ ee-leegal turns on Brawd Street whaile folks cawl me ’n asshole from their cars! YEE-HAW!”

Reminds me of that commercial that used to be on Saturday morning cartoons: “I hanker for a hunka cheese.”

In Soviet Russia, hunka cheese hankers for YOU!
Apropos of nothing else, I got my 11-game plan tickets yesterday! I get to see Simon Gagne, but not until November. I was hoping for the first game against Tampa so I could give him a standing O and cry like a baby.
Oh well. I’m probably going to cry anyway during that game, but from the comfort of my own home. Wang-dang-doodily-wing-dang-doo.

Hey now. I wore a western shirt to every Flyers game I attended this past spring, from the shootout win over the Rangers to Game 4 of the Finals. My record? 7-0. That was Regular Season Game 82 against NYR, Game 3 against NJD, Games 4 and 6 against BOS, Games 1 and 5 against MON, and Game 4 against CHI.
So, by going Western, Panotch will guarantee that the Flyers will be undefeated at home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111

Partnering Agreement
I think Bill Meltzer has an excellent idea for the Flyers to partner with KalPa. Tell Hartnell he won’t have to worry about being asked to waive his NTC if the deal gets done. Maybe Teemu can broker the deal and score season tickets while he’s at it.

I’ve been hoping for years that the Flyers would affiliate with Kalpa. I think it’s basically just a matter of time before Kalpa affiliates with some NHL team, so hopefully it would be with the Flyers. They have obvious ties with each other and I agree with Bill in that Kalpa has one of the best junior systems in Finland.
I’m actually going to ask Kapanen about this.
Article on Prospects
Here’s a link to an article on the Flyers Top 20 prospects according to Hockey’s Future:
http://www.hockeysfuture.com/articles/12293/joacim_eriksson_new_top_prospect_for_philadephia_flyers/
Although I question just how thorough those guys are since Johan Backlund isn’t even listed as a prospect. It’s hard to fathom that he’s not a better prospect than Adam Morrison or Brian Stewart (both of which made the list…although way down on it). It can’t be because he started 1 NHL game either, because Nodl and Bartulis are both still listed as prospects.
Maybe they have an age limit to be considered a prospect… wtf?

He’s not able to in the Calder at this point, I don’t think, so I guess that makes sense.

From an ESPN interview with Gretzky
He cited the Philadelphia Flyers’ thrilling journey to the Stanley Cup finals last spring.
“They get into the playoffs on the last day of the season by winning a shootout. Then they come back from 3-0 down [against Boston] and eventually get to the Stanley Cup finals — I mean, those are great stories,” Gretzky said. "That’s what makes our game so great — there’s always a new chapter written each year. Just when we think ‘What could happen next?’ something positive happens for the game.
Gretzky calling for team “what makes our game so great” feels almost exactly like the first time your dad praises you as an adult.
JVR
Very optimistic about him. Hopefully that strength training shows its effects soon. Also:
Just got owned in bowling by giroux, gotta practice a bit

Is much better than “Just went out partying with Carts”
Simon Gagne may move between towns, wear new jerseys and call different arenas home, but at the end of the day, he will always be a Philadelphia Flyer.

Giroux would be the type of guy that is naturally talented at everything.
I’d like to see how much weight JVR can gain, especially compared to the progress of Nazem Kadri, a Leafs prospect who went from 167 to 188lbs.
Backing Backlund for 2010-2011
Mourning Gagne forever.
that much of a weight gain in so little time would be kinda scary for a young kid, no? slow him down and such… i think it was in panotch’s latest article about backlund where he mentions JVR is at 206 now and visibly bigger up top and faster so that sounds promising.
That is 6lbs a little less than I expected but with the short offseason probably hard to get much more. I remember guys sometimes going up like 15lbs in the summer. Richie Carter and the likes start out around 180-185 and play at close to 200 after a year or to.
Pronger taught me weight means doesn’t equal strength Pronger is 6ft 6in at plays at only 220lbs. JVR at 6ft 3in and 206 is better than what he was listed (200 lb) at and probably a big gain compared to where he ended the season after losing a lot of weight playing 99 games compared to 39 the year before. I expect JVR to play around 215 average for his career.
Kadri had the advantage of starting at an extremely low weight JVR was already 200lbs.
wtf is UberTwitter? German Twitter?
Sounds like a great name for a band.
