NHL Center Ice?
Long story short,
Born and raised in philly, was lucky enough to play NCAA hockey in boston, now live in boston full-time. I have been reluctant to purchase NHL Center Ice for the past couple of years now, but i have changed my mind. Before i call comcast does anyone know how much it costs this year? I am really tired of having to watch bruins games to get my hockey fix, and having to listen to Jack Edwards do commentary. So yea, how much does center ice cost and do you guys think it is worth it?

I believe it is $176 this year if you purchase it before October 31st. I’m stuck down in Florida and had to buy it last year and I would say it is 100% worth it. I loved being able to watch every game.
Also, they did it in 4 installments of $40 or so last year, they just add it to your current bill.

Flyers Television Play-by-Play Man: Jim Jackson
I am in Central Jersey and think it was slightly cheaper for me last year.
COMPLETELY WORTH IT!!!
I have been getting it since I moved here in 99 thru 2 different cable companies.
Added bonus for me is that the NHL and MLB packages share the same set of stations so I get the MLB package until about game 5 of the SCF’s.

I also live in central jersey but on the western side of the state. I don’t have Comcast as a cable provider so I only get 1 Comcast station which alternates between CSN and the regular Comcast channel. I looked online to see whether central ice was worth it, but it appears that I get blacked out of Phillies games for the MLB ticket. Wouldn’t this mean I also get blacked out of Flyers games?
Anyone got any ideas on how I can watch the Flyers even though I don’t always get CSN and since that’s where the majority of the games are showed on… you get the idea…

one drawback
they rarely if ever have the flyers (comcast) announcers. so, be prepared to get the other team’s broadcasters but no jim jackson.
as long as its not jack edwards i am cool with it

It’s totally worth it. I live in VA and got it for the first time last year, and am already calling and asking when I can pre-order. As said above, not many Flyers feeds. Oh well, its fun to hear the disappointment in their voices as we trounce them. Also, it’s fun to watch some West Coast teams I don’t get to see often.
not worth it
after two years i am cancelling.
i remained blacked out of several flyers games per year. because comcast has some sort of deal that restricts its coverage through directv, i am unable to receive the Flyers broadcasts which relegates me to listening to every other teams announcers bad mouthing the team i pay $180 a year extra to watch despite the fact that i do not get HD coverage and am exclude from even watching a number of games each season.
buyer beware, the Flyers are unlike the rest of the NHL in TV coverage. make certain, 100%, that you will receive home Flyers coverage of everyone home game if you purchase this if that’s what you want. otherwise, have fun listening to constant criticism of your team, at least, in those games they bother to allow access to.
You usually can lose a couple maybe 3 games a year in some areas. It is what it is, I’ll take 78 games versus 20 (national, Rags, Devs, Islanders) I would get otherwise.

totally worth it
Especially if you’re not just a Flyers fan but a hockey fan in general.
But I manage to get every Flyers game that’s broadcasted. Yea, it sucks that I usually don’t get the home broadcast all the time. Sometimes you’ll get lucky and will have the option of choosing which broadcast (home/away) to watch.
It is a must have down here in DC. I think I only missed 3 or 4 Flyers games last year (West Coast – too late) BTW, I have had it both through Cox (Cable) and FIOS. I have noticed that on Cox, even when Center Ice broadcasts in HD, it does not show in HD. Center Ice was showing in the 600 channels, and Cox only broadcasts HD in 700s. No such issue with FIOS.
Free Preview
Apparently they’re doing a free Preview for the first few weeks. So I’m going to watch that before I judge it’s worth.
