Turns out Danny Briere's an All-Star anyway

Photo

Jarome Iginla won't be heading to the All-Star Game in Raleigh next week due to family issues, according to TSN's Darren Dreger, and the Canadian news outlet is reporting that his replacement will be Flyers forward Danny Briere.

Many of us bitched last week when Briere, the leading scorer on the East's best team, was snubbed by the league. As it turns out, he'll get to make the trip anyway.

A lot of fans seem to be of the opinion that Briere shouldn't accept this "pity invite," but according to Tim Panaccio on Twitter, Danny's kids want to see him in the game. Hard to argue with that.

I’d rather him not go, take the days off. But I guess it’s fitting since his roommate is going and all.

But who’s going to watch the kids? WILL SOMEBODY PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN?

for the next segment of the Briere bunch and Uncle Claude – I think they should delve into their single dating scene and how that takes place with the kids and their schedule and the fact that they are all in the same household.

Do they leave a tie on the doorknob ?

do they get a hotel?

You do have to admit, the last couple of episodes, they looked like they were living that “Alternative Male Lifestyle” by the way the producers presented it.

Not like it will be hard work. He won’t get the mental vacation, but he deserves to be there and I’m happy for him. Should be fun for both him and G.

Doesn't change the disrespect from the League

I, personally, was never upset about seeing #48 in the ASG (I normally only watch the Skills Competition, anyway). What I was pissed about was the perceived bias against the Flyers and Briere, specifically, by the league’s joke of an executive in Colin Campbell.

I hate the way the NHL operates in managing the highest level of competition for the best sport in the world — not just as it pertains to the Flyers, but in general. They overmarket the game to the wrong people, and seem determined to turn the NHL into a shitty “superstar” league like the dreadful NBA.

Hopefully, Campbell will have seats about 10 to 15 rows off of the center ice sideboards for the ASG, and Briere can “accidentally” take an errant slapshot that “mistakenly” hits Colin in his fat, crooked head.

Watch him be the MVP of the game.

ASG and Briere gets in on a snub

Well ok so Briere is getting to go.

Do I think that the League Snubbed him? yes IMHO.

Do I think that JMm8 is right about Colin Campbell being a joke and a dink? Yes IMHO.

Do I think that the League is promoting the NHL like the NBA as a Superstar League? Yes I do because This all comes from Gary Bettman coming over from the NBA and influencing that type of Marketing style.

Colin Campbell to me IMHO cannot be biased whenever it comes to FLYERS vs Rangers because he used to coach the Rangers in 1993 and Terry Murray used to smack them around like the “Smurfs” that they were. Hence Messier got him fired and Keenan took them to the promise land. Check out Terry Murray’s record from 1991 to 1993 (I think) over Colin Campbell and the NY Stinkin’ Rangers.

BUT – I am happy Briere made it to the ASG. I also am the Only one who watches the Skills Competition as well.

I will be In Raliegh N.C. a Dang Week Early (20th to 23rd) for my business for a National Convention. My CEO of my Organization is a HUGE Hurricanes fan and has been in the locker room with The Team with his teenage son.

I also think doubleh mentioned a funny note. Watch him be the MVP ! HA !

Terry Murray coached the Capitals from ‘89 to ’94. He may have actually had a good record against the Rangers during that time but it wasn’t coaching the Flyers.

You know what’s funny, I noticed I used a period instead of a question mark, went back, clicked on what I thought was to the right of period, hit backspace, typed in the question mark, and yet that’s what I ended up with. I need to start looking at the screen before I hit post, or maybe keeping the screen expanded while I’m replying.
