So tomorrow at noon, Nabokov goes on waivers. He's signed with Detroit for $570,000, a real steal for a veteran goalie. Tim Panaccio tweeted
Let me rephrase that: Flyers will NOT put a waiver claim on Nabokov.
The Flyers have $394,063 cap space, $832,221 with LTIR. I would say it's probably correct that the Flyers won't make a move for Nabokov, after waiving Leighton and just avoiding a problem with cap space. Then again, it is Holmgren we're dealing with, so you never know what cap-space trouble we might get into.
Anyways - what do you guys think about the idea of Nabokov in Philadelphia? Personally, I would say terrible idea. He doesn't preform in the playoffs; so far, things have been good with Boosh and Bob, and unless one of them gets injured, I would say signing another goaltender (not to mention one we can't afford) is a really bad move. So, if not Philadelphia, where do you think Nabokov will end up? Or does he clear waivers and make it to Detroit?
