Flyers Captain/alternate patch color change may be against the rules

In an earlier Fly By (9/30/11), it was mentioned in the uniform changes for this season that the Flyers were changing the color of their captain and alternate captain patches. The colors were supposedly changing from orange with a black border on the road to white with a black border, the same layout as the home. The colors on the road had been altered during the preseason and the first 2 regular season games, both on the road. The home patches remained the same. However, in the official rules of the NHL, Rule 6.1 (under Section 2) States That: He[the captain] shall wear the letter "C," approximately three inches (3'') in height and in contrasting color, in a conspicuous position on the front of his sweater. Unless the fact that there is a black outline on the patch negates the contrasting color rule, this new uniform change is against the rules.
