PHILADELPHIA PA - JANUARY 25: David Desharnais #58 of the Montreal Canadiens tries to tie up Blair Betts #11 of the Philadelphia Flyers as Betts chases the puck after a faceoff in the second period of an NHL hockey game at the Wells Fargo Center on January 25 2011 in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. We'll have more on this in a bit, but Blair Betts has been placed on waivers by the Philadelphia Flyers. Perhaps the best value on the roster at a $700,000 cap hit for what he does, he's now likely gone to another NHL team. Help explain this to me. Please.
Also on waivers today, and not all that surprising: defensemen Oskars Bartulis and Matt Walker. So Andreas Lilja makes the team as the sixth defenseman, and it looks like they aren't carrying a seventh defenseman. Or maybe Erik Gustafsson just made the team.
More to come in a bit.
