MONTREAL, QC - MAY 22: Blair Betts #11 and Braydon Coburn #5 of the Philadelphia Flyers skates against Mike Cammalleri #13 of the Montreal Canadiens in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals during the 2010 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs at Bell Centre on May 22, 2010 in Montreal, Canada. Bye-bye, Blair Betts.
Bob McKenzie of TSN reports that Blair Betts has been claimed off the waiver wire by the Montreal Canadiens. Oskars Bartulis (phew) and Matt Walker remain with the club, and it appears as though Walker will start the season with the Flyers, apparently on a pairing with Braydon Coburn. That would make Andreas Lilja your seventh defenseman.
Betts was not the most durable guy, but an incredibly solid fourth liner. His defensive prowess will be missed, especially at that price tag.
But MOST tragically, we now have to rework the lyrics to "Briere, Betts, and Pronger." Play it loud and pour one out.
