Winter Classic Jerseys: Insert latest rumor here

We get a lot of email about Winter Classic jerseys, and I never know how to respond. "We don't know" is usually the basis of what I reply with, no matter the question.

When are they being released?
Why haven't they been released yet?
How much will they cost?
Are these jerseys I saw on the Internet real?

There's so much information and misinformation out there, and everybody wants to know that These Are The Jerseys. We've seen reports that claim sources in the organization say one thing, only to see reports that claim sources in the organization say another thing weeks later. (These latest ones today are pretty damn sexy, for what that's worth.)

We've seen fake jerseys created on the Internet, then mass produced 8,000 miles away, then shipped to seemingly thousands of people who also happen to buy tickets to games at the Wells Fargo Center.

This is what happens when the NHL and the team take foooooorever to unveil the actual jerseys. People are duped into buying things that aren't real, and the hype and drama surrounding what the team will actually wear on January 2 builds and builds and builds and builds. We doubt the NHL really cares all that much about this, though.

Our answer, and this will likely be our answer until the team announces something: We don't know. There are too many rumors around these damned jerseys to be sure of anything. But I do hope these latest rumors are true.

And I hope it has a white nameplate

I’d rank this as a tie with the other black shoulder – Flyers logo one.

The quakers throwback is by far the worst, I’m not buying a jersey with generic script “Flyers”, or anything else other than the Flyers logo. The third one, the one that’s basically just their everyday jersey in retro-cream is in the middle.

(I hate both laces and lettering, which puts me in the minority of thinking the rangers jersey is the worst in hockey. They need to bring back the lady liberty logo)

Quakers!

I’m probably the only one to feel this way, but the faux-Quakers model is my favorite (even though it’s clearly a fake).

I kind of like the idea that the most recent set are both fakes, released by the team to thoroughly confuse fans in advance of the real release. They’ve got to do it soon, though, if they plan on selling any of them before the game.

Raider Nation, all hand's on deck or get the hell off the ship! That's the way it's gonna be around here from now on! If a 7th & 5th round pick gets you Aaron Curry (a former 4th overall 1st rd. pick) instead of a couple of crap-shoots a year later, then fine and if dealing away a couple of first rounder's gets you a proven franchise quarterback like Carson Palmer and a legitimate shot at the playoffs, then great, you know why? Because our team is standing behind it's motto & legacy, "Just Win Baby!" and "Commitment to Excellence" instead of "Suck for Luck" and "Give Up". Imagine if you were a fan of a team that actually bought into that!?!

Yeeeah. Not a fan of the white logo. Plus you know they’d do it in Vintage White, and the guys would look like Creamsicles. Keep the classic black logo, please.

I also like the “keystone” captaincy logos that were rumored, as well as the laces at the collar. I don’t really believe that the photos leaked on Puck Daddy/eBay are the real deal either. I guess we’ll see.

They do look nice, but I wonder if only the captain/alternates would have the keystone logo. Anther option would be to put the keystone logo on the shoulders.
