You do have fans apparently so i guess we should hold you to higher standards. I never thought I would hear the sentence, “wait you know Travis and Geoff Detwe…weiile…weiler” in a postive and excited tone of voice. Well I guess I could see the Travis part, but never you included in it.
Not only do we have fans, but we have groupies. It’s a fun perk.

Concussions are terrible and can affect people’s lives well outside the world of hockey. Both as a Flyers fan and a person, I want Crosby to remain concussion-free.

Geoff, I’m a little concerned about your Phantoms narrative. You only linked Saturday’s win, nothing about Sunday’s loss. Rookie Jason Akeson now has 4g, 3a in his last 5 games. Brandon Manning is to join the team this week, Kevin Marshall was an unexplained healthy scratch Saturday, Leighton has lost his last three starts.
haha, Sunday’s story wasn’t up when I did this. It came into my RSS at 2:35 am this morning.

It’s funny because it seems the thing the WIP crowd have not like most about Vick this year is the turnovers. And behold Vince Young has a 3-turnover day, the Eagles somehow win with LeSean McCoy having a pedestrian day (last run of the game after the Giants fumbled aside), and behold, Vince Young is a hero! Never mind that the Eagles dominated the line on both sides of the ball (except for run blocking, which oddly, is something the Eagles had been good at this year) got pressure on Eli, and had a solid game defensively.

Richards and Carter watch
Richards has 16 points in 20 games including 2 shorthanded goals. Interestingly he has the fifth highest Ozone start % amongst LAK forwards who have played more than 10 games. But on the other hand he’s also facing the fifth toughest competition - so we can maybe call that a wash. His Corsi Rel of -17.8 is the worst out of LAK forwards who have played more than 10 games. His shooting % of 7.08% is pretty low so he might bolster his scoring in future as that evens out, but his 0.947% save % is pretty high so that might be countered by him being out there for a few more goals.
Carter hasn’t played 10 games yet so reducing the barrier to 5 games for CBJ. He’s got 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists) in 9 games so far with a shooting % of 8.70%. He’s facing the second toughest competition with middle of the pack zone starts, and has the fourth highest Corsi Rel on the Jackets of 7.0 (although the Jackets are kinda crap; that would be still be up there even if it was on the current Flyers)
Simon Gagne AND Mike Richards may move between towns, wear new jerseys and call different arenas home but, at the end of the day, they will both always be Philadelphia Flyers.

Considering one of the returns of those trades
Sean Couturier’s Corsi Rel of 9.3 is third on the Flyers (>= 10 games filter) and his Ozone start % is an astounding 32.6% (which is the least on the Flyers). While he starts in the Ozone 32.6% of the time, he ends there 42.2%.
Also, Wayne Simmonds has been really struggling. 62.1% Ozone start (3rd on the Flyers) and a Corsi Rel of -6.8 (8th; or 4th worst amongst forwards who have played 10 or more games). One thing though is that Simmonds O-zone faceoffs have gone 33-48 and D-zone faceoffs have been 18-32. Eric/Geoff/other-stats-inclined-people: wouldn’t faceoff losses confound Corsi scores? If Simmer’s starting in the O-zone 62.1% of the time but the other team is gaining possession off the faceoff in 59.3% of those situations, wouldn’t that affect his Corsi?
Simon Gagne AND Mike Richards may move between towns, wear new jerseys and call different arenas home but, at the end of the day, they will both always be Philadelphia Flyers.
One day Sean Couturier will win the Conn Smythe. You heard it here first.

Hey! Has anyone heard?
Sidney Crosby is supposed to be back tonight for the Pittsburgh Crosbys game against the New york Islanders. It will be the first time the Crosbys have had Sidney Crosby in the lineup since last Crosbuary when he was hit into the boards on a clearly dirty play by some player not named Sidney Crosby. Crosby Crosby Crosby Crosby Crosby Crosby Crosby Crosby Crosby Crosby Crosby Crosby.
Seriously, I mean I understand that he’s a great player, but in terms of hockey coverage, I swear I probably heard his name more times last night than I would have heard the name “LeBron James” or any variation thereof in 10 minutes of any ESPN coverage of anything.
