I took a look at what they were saying at Lighthouse Hockey last night
Not a happy bunch. Not a happy bunch at all.
Simon Gagne AND Mike Richards may move between towns, wear new jerseys and call different arenas home but, at the end of the day, they will both always be Philadelphia Flyers.
One day Sean Couturier will win the Conn Smythe. You heard it here first.

I like the Flyers Faithful article on Homer. I think it’s a fairly well balanced account of his tenure. His performance in 06/07 does deserve credit; and he has generally been good at evaluating talent. His long-term plan seems nonexistent, and I think that’s where most of his shortcomings could be attributed to. Perhaps that’s not even on him; maybe it’s inevitable in a team that treats every coming season as ‘the year we go all the way’. The only time we didn’t approach a season that way was 06/07 and at that time he did show a reasonable amount of fortitude (although one could say he wasn’t patient with the Briere signing and should’ve let Carter and Richards develop; but the fans in Philly wanted a big name signing at that stage).
The final few paragraphs are pretty good:
He’s made inexplicably bad decisions that hurt the team. At times, it appears that he has no plan and reacts impulsively. Yet, somehow, the picture becomes clearer down the road and many of his misgivings seem to fade away when his bigger gambles payoff. Such is the frustrating nature of anyone who sees the forest but is constantly surprised by running into trees.
Paul Holmgren has found ways to work within the system by not working within the system at all. He’s an innovator by creating a virtual anti-philosophy regarding the way that a GM can build a winning team while constantly flirting with disaster.
Sometimes it backfires but, all things considered, he’s done an impressive job at continually rebuilding a competitive team that appears to have its back against the wall without any chance of getting out alive and, for that, he deserves credit.

Happy Thanksgiving America!
A few quick points :-
Nice comeback win last night. After a sloppy 1st we seemed to up the tempo there after and found just enough to pick up the win.
I was fairly happy with Mez (he needed to up his game) and Bourdon played well with the exception of the 2nd, if memory serves me right he was a fault for that one. He sure can hit though.
Good to see Schenn back. Can’t wait to see him get a good run in the top-team.
Finally enjoy your day of giving-thanks and all that jazz!

Happy thanksgiving. Will there be any advanced statistics breakdown of Marc-Andre Bourbon’s play? He passes the eyeball test as far as being a bottom pairing defenseman, although a few times he almost got caught pinching.
After two games, his advanced stats aren’t going to tell us much.
