HBO 24/7 Flyers-Rangers Soundtrack: A Complete Listing & Playlist

Photo

One of the finer points of HBO 24/7 Flyers-Rangers has been the accompanying soundtrack, whether it's because the songs are good or because the lyrics happen to fit the story perfectly. But one of the problems is that apparently, those in post-production at HBO are total hipsters, and half of the songs are completely outside of the mainstream.

Actually, that's not a problem. It's a good thing. And we have the Internet, so we can find those tunes and bring them to you. It also helps that HBO has a running list of songs played during the series on their website, making this whole search much, much easier.

Below, we've compiled the songs into a convenient YouTube playlist for your enjoyment. If you like the songs, we'd encourage you to support the artists and buy them on iTunes or some such equivalent. That way, you can carry them around on your fancy handheld computer or whatever. Much better than lugging around a YouTube playlist, right?

You can also find the complete list of songs below the jump as well. Episode 3 isn't listed yet, but we'll be updating with those once HBO lists them. We'd compile it ourselves but A) we're lazy and B) we don't want to miss anything.

Star-divide

Open the playlist on YouTube.

You can also get the playlist on Spotify, although it doesn't include every single song. Most, but not all.

The last song in episode 3 is “Are You Awake” by Expatriate. I have been playing it non-stop.

“Promises” by Thrice is in Episode 3, I believe during the Rangers-Islanders highlights

My favorite band. No two songs sound alike.

Too bad none of the newer songs sound like the ones on Identity Crisis.

J/k, I am pretty unfamiliar with anything they have done since vheissu, which I hated.

Vheissu grew on me eventually. The Alchemy Index is nothing short of a masterpiece, to the point where I’m getting it tattooed on me.

Guess I should give those a listen at some point. I was really turned off by vheissu.

Still sad that they are basically done.

Done how? They are still making albums if that is what you mean.

I know they came out with one this year, but I read somewhere that dustin wants to spend more time with his family and so they won’t be touring much anymore.

i still consider major hiatus to be breaking up, even if they say otherwise

M83’s Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming (from whence comes “Midnight City”) is easily one of the best albums of 2011. And honestly, up until this album I really didn’t care for M83 all that much. To me, they were a band who had some nice ideas but always lacked something. But they’ve really put it together now.

My favorite track.

you know, I picked up 5/6 of their albums, and I like it all equally.

I first heard them in 2005, when hipsters everywhere were jizzing all over “Don’t Save Us From The Flames,” which I thought was nice but nothing special. I saw them at the Trocadero that year and was underwhelmed. Before this album, I think Saturdays=Youth is one of their better ones.

As it wouldn’t surprise me to see the DVDs drop some of the music for rights reasons, worth bookmarking and/or keeping the DVR’d eps handy just in case.

It's the little things, man.

I love this damn website. I watched episode 2 last week and the ending scene with G skating around in slow motion with that music was PERFECT. I’m so glad you guys did this.

Oh and EVERYTHING about that new Black Keys album is godly. everyone who has ears should buy it.

Thank you for this list

This is much more convenient than replaying the episode on demand and Shazaming every song I like

The Black Keys are the bomb diggity. I saw them live a few years ago downtown (TLA i think) and it was one of the best shows I ever saw, which is saying a lot considering current bands are awful live.

Great Sound track...

as someone without HBO.. is there anyway to watch this series? Catching clips of Bryz is fun, but I’d like the full show.

There aren’t enough thank you’s for this post yet. Half the video is audio… so remember the video we’ve been enjoying so immensely has been buttressed by this awesome song collection.
