As interesting as that article was it was still a pretty bad trade. 21 games in Nashville for Fisher 6 pts and a 4.2 million dollar cap hit for two more seasons at the cost of your 1st and 2nd round draft pick.
I agree. I never really liked Fisher.

I just realized there’s only two weeks left in the regular season. That’s awesome. Bring on the playoffs!!

Same here. How are you feeling? I felt like shit yesterday. Geoff says he started to get a sore throat. Today I feel much better though.

I was dead to the world yesterday. I called out sick because of exhaustion. I am getting sick, but I was getting sick before I left. If anything, the alcohol helped to keep it from setting in.
After sleeping for 14 hours Sunday night though, I feel amazing…except for the whole getting sick thing.
Question, didn’t we also see Ben was right about DSOD?

I don’t know. Maybe you did. I know you were very impressed on Friday, but you didn’t sound too impressed on Saturday. And I didn’t hear (or, don’t remember) Shaun’s opinion on him.
But I’m an insensitive, forgetful dick, so what do I know.

I feel like crap today. My allergies/sinuses/etc. are really bad. It also didn’t help that I went out drinking last night, but I thought it would based on our previous experience with pounders.

I'm not flipping out about the Flyers...
but it would make me feel a lot better if we had two or three good games (hell, periods) in a row….
And I thought JVR was our best skater in both games this weekend.

I hate the shootout.
Defending Carter until 2021...
Same, although technically, 4 shootout wins in a row is the same as four regulation wins (at least as they are counted in the standings), with the exception of tie-breaker scenarios.
Slightly off-topic, but I particularly enjoy the ranting and raving from some fans of other teams about how we should love the shootout because it the Flyers in the playoffs last year. When really, things could not be farther from the truth in terms of our feelings on it. I never liked it. And I will admit, as with all teams who win a shootout, the Flyers were the luckier team that day.

if i recall correctly, if the shootout didn’t exist, we would have made the playoffs directly… (based on the adjusted standings).

Yes, this is true. In terms of the shootout, the Flyers were grossly unlucky the first 81 games in that the shootout cost them points that would have been sufficient enough to give them the 6-seed last season, but in the 82nd game against the Rangers, they won and got in anyway, ultimately making it to the Finals. That one worked out nicely in the end. ;-)

Win or lose tonight I still wake up tomorrow a Flyer fan so life is good.
That being said, let’s win this game and send a message that 4th place is not an option.

Even if they lose, the Flyers will still be in 1st place in the Atlantic Division by the end of the night. Flyers own the tie-breaker over the Penguins.

I know but it effectively kills our game in hand. Keep the Yinzers where they belong!!!

Not really. A game in hand is still a game in hand. The margin of error is significantly less, but the Penguins would still need to go the rest of the season earning at least one more point than the Flyers while playing one less game than them.

Ok, is it ok to say “Just Win” or is there a statistic against that?

Nothing wrong with that. But it does not “kill the game in hand.” It kills the Flyers’ margin of error, not the game in hand.

Yea, but up 4 with a game in hand sounds a lot better than tied with a game in hand.
How many games have the Pens put to extra time without Crosby or Malkin? I know everyone is giving them credit, but seriously the dump and defensive shell for a free point is ruining march hockey for me.
Fuck off Betteman, stop ruining my sport.
Defending Carter until 2021...
I agree with all of this. My point was more of a semantics point that the Flyers will still have a game in hand, but their margin of error with that game in hand, something they have enjoyed greatly the past couple months, would evaporate.
If memory serves me correctly, the Penguins went from the beginning of February (maybe even end of January?) to the beginning or middle of March without winning a game in regulation. They survived through OT wins, shootout wins, and Bettman points.

Apropos of Nothing Else...
… I’m pretty sure my non-Flyer man crush is Darren Helm. That guy’s awesome. If only my man Oops Powe Surprise was a little bit faster / talented, we’d have a Darren Helm of our own.
But since Powe is my official Flyer man-crush, I won’t call him “A poor man’s Darren Helm.” Instead, I will refer to Helm as “A rich man’s Darroll Powe.”

That makes two of us, I’ve always hoped that the Wings depth would be so great that Helm would be forced to leave Detroit and come join Philly.
I played with Helm in Medicine Hat and the guy’s wheels are out of this world, his hands were filthy too but when I watch him play now it looks like he left those in Alberta haha.
They said on the broadcast last night that he trains by running up a hill dragging a sled behind him, or something like that. This would explain his explosiveness.

Wait...
In their last three games the Flyers have been outshot 104-70, losing the shots battle in each of the games. They’ve scored only six goals in that span, four of which came against the Islanders.
Ouch.
Big game tonight. Keep the pressure on teh PeNgWinZ. Sweep the games played in Pittsburgh. Hell, just for consistency’s sake, win it 3-2.

I have class tonight and will miss this entire game. I am not sure if the feelings I will have during my class will be more or less nerve-wracking than those watching it. Sometimes the anxiety experienced not knowing can be greater than that of those watching it.

Sorry if I’m late finding this, but could you imagine if they tried to pull that in Philly? Good lord, with a complimentary butt pat for good measure

Have you searched for the Lancaster Barnstormers (Professional Sports Team page and not the community page)? If you go there it should be like the third or fourth post down.

Keith Jones on Pucky Daddy Radio:
On who will start in the playoffs:
It’s going to be Sergei Bobrovsky. I think he’ll have a fairly long leash. But it won’t be the leash of a Ryan Miller or a Henrik Lundqvist.
Meant to be a block quote. This will be cleaner to read:
It’s going to be Sergei Bobrovsky. I think he’ll have a fairly long leash. But it won’t be the leash of a Ryan Miller or a Henrik Lundqvist.
I also like when people put an article in front of someone’s name. Like Ryan Miller is a cylon and they all have long leashes.
This is what happens when you live in a studio apartment. You end up downloading, watching, and referencing crappy sci-fi shows.
SHES A CYLON HELO.
Seriously, if you haven’t yet, do yourself and play the BSG board game. Best fucking game evar.
