Questions to Answer
- Can the Flyers get back to their game -- as in, no "lazy hockey" -- in such an important game?
- Similarly, does being on the road help them simplify the game and help them stop the stupid turnovers/bad breakouts?
- Sergei Bobrovsky has been stellar in Pittsburgh this year. Does that continue?
- The Versteeg-Richie-JvR line was the Flyers' best against Boston. Can they keep that going?
- The Penguins were very sound defensively against the Flyers last week. They controlled the pace of the game from start to finish. Can the Flyers steal that from them and dictate the flow tonight?
Go Flyers.

Yeah, I purposely try to avoid 8 AM classes and any night classes if I can.
Couldn’t for a few since sometimes I had an adjunct professor who only taught at night because they had a day job. Though one of my adjuncts was from Haddonfield. That guy was awesome.

After watching every team call up an AHL goon for a day when they faced the Flyers, I find it weird to see two goons as healthy scratches in an opponent’s lineup.
The Pens need the points more than leaving a calling card.
by NickFotiu4HOF on Mar 29, 2011 6:48 PM EDT up reply actions
Jody Shelley was in the Rangers’ lineup for games 81-82 last year, and I doubt it’s because they thought he’d score two goals.
It seems like last year, teams thought they needed goons to beat the Flyers and this year they don’t.
Jody Shelley is hurt?

Well, I was answering the claim that the Penguins benched their goons because they knew it would help get points — the Rangers were a lot more desperate last year and still played theirs.
But also…I have a hard time believing that Riley Cote was the difference between calling up an AHL goon to face last year’s Flyers and benching a goon with 61 games played this year.
I honestly haven’t noticed the AHL goon phenomenon this year even when Shelley was healthy.
You took that comment far too seriously. haha

Say whatever you want, but I really do respect this Penguins team. No way should this lineup be even sniffing the Atlantic division title, let alone the playoffs. Watching them play, you can see every player giving it 110% every shift, and thats why they’re this close to us.

Without the Betteman point, they wouldn’t be near us. Both they and their opponents have been playing for the charity point, then 5 minutes of actual hockey. The Pens know they usually have the better goalie so they don’t even get aggressive in OT. The Rangers did it to us last year, as you recall. The difference in the Rangers had one game, the Pens have had two months.

It’s really up to the Flyers. Do they want to win or lose? They are clearly better than the Penguins on paper, but I agree with JpH89…the Pittsburgh team doesn’t seem to quit trying the way the Flyers do…

No, but if the unspoken talking point of not having the desperation to play at a higher level than Boston is the truth, you would hope that playing in Pittsburgh would sort of be a fix (if temporary) to that issue, right?
Contributor at The Brotherly Game, SBN's Philadelphia Union blog
…Maybe poor phrasing on my part, but from the quotes I’ve read from the locker room, not a lot of them seem to want to talk about that being the thing. Most just talk in hypotheticals.

Well since I have the Pitt feed, I will be watching this game on Mute.
I will look to you guys for commentary since the collective hockey knowledge at FSN Pitt is about as much as my dog knows about hockey.
My teams are the Flyers, Phillies and the Steelers. Deal with it.
That whole line has been ass lately. Him, Leino, and Hartnell have been lost for a couple games now.
Samesis
Little bit. Think Leino is still trying, maybe too hard. Danny has been mostly invisible, and Hartnell has been, well, Hartnell.

I looked up at my screen and saw the flyers cycling with the puck deep…I was like “WE LOOK LIKE THE FLYERS!”
Then I realized we were on the powerplay.

Looks like Snyder finally paid his electric bill.
I love the Flyers so much I even went to Bobby Clarke Day Camp.

haha I’ve been saying for weeks that our problem on the offensive side is that the D isnt taking shots anymore, and the first one I see is a goal. I know we have the best top 9, but that means jack shit when the other teams play the trap. Seriously, you don’t know how happy a goal like that makes me feel, cause now we may finally stop trying for the damn highlight real style goals.

My wife and I met her sister’s boyfriend for the first time. He’s a Caps fan. Had his caps on and everything.

G, the second coming of Foppa.
by JerseyDriver on Mar 29, 2011 7:41 PM EDT up reply actions
He did.
He is from North Dakota, and we both like the Fighting Suix so we had that to bond over, but as of yet the bond is not too strong.
I didn’t bother asking how someone from North Dakota became a Caps fan, I figured the answer couldn’t possibly justify the selection so rather than argue I just let it be.
