Kris Versteeg, Nick Boynton decline invite to White House

Stay connected for news and updates

The Chicago Blackhawks are visiting the White House next week as they're honored by President Obama for winning last year's Stanley Cup. Obviously, they beat the Flyers to win that Cup, which means it'd be a little awkward for the two newest Flyers, Nick Boynton and Kris Versteeg, to make that trip.

They're not. Via the Inquirer:

"It is an exciting thing to go to the White House, but I just decided to let those guys go," Versteeg said. "I'm still friends with those guys, don't get me wrong, but I haven't been with them for about a year now, and I'm on a team that may play them again. You never know."
