Shot Quality
Good Morning,
This is my first fanpost on Broad Street so go easy on me. I am usually just a reader and occasional commenter. But last night I had to vent about something. First of all, I believe, as many of you, that we will win this series. The fly played fantastic last night. They were hungry, disciplined, didn't make crucial mistakes, and were on the attack consistently. Unfortunately, all that mean garbage i you can't get the puck bast a stellar goaltender who played solid all game long.
I am sorry, but Miller was NOT amazing last night, the Fly made him look amazing. I did some math, out of the 34 shots on net, give or take a few pucks, 81% of them were in Miller's midsection. They seemed intent on just getting the puck to the net and hoping for deflections or rebounds. The shots were there, but those shots were not quality chances. Miller is known for his reboundless play and it seems they were overthinking a guy who has lost plenty of games this year on less attempts. The microcosm of the game came within the last minute of regulation. Down 1-0, Lavy pulled Bobs and Briere had a golden opportunity to score or at least get a nice rebound for the forward crashing down on net (forget who it was). Danny let rip a laser slapper that, you guessed it, ran right into Miller's stomach. It seems that he was going five hole but who knows. Anyway, we need to get the pucks all over the place. Didd nayone else see this last night?

Hi! Welcome. Thanks for chiming in.
I think the answer is that the shots that hit Miller in the chest just didn’t go where they were aiming. I don’t think their strategy was to fire it right at his chest, but sometimes the puck doesn’t go where you want it to.
Can you clarify one thing for me? First you say that the Flyers were just hoping for rebounds and you think that’s a mistake because Miller gives up so few of them. But then you say the microcosm of the game was when Briere could’ve scored or at least gotten a nice rebound but hit the goalie in the chest.
It seems like in the first statement, you’re saying they should be trying to pick corners and not just hope for rebounds, but in the second one you’re saying something different. Where do you stand on this?
