Hockey Bloggers For Rent (And Charity)

In the name of charity, our friend Chemmy at Pension Plan Puppets teamed up with Ryan Lambert from Puck Daddy (and other various places) to blog about a team during the first round.

They auctioned off their services via eBay, and BlackhawksDL.com won the bidding. The proceeds, $1,700, went to benefit Right To Play. The details from the eBay listing:

Lambert and I are going to blog for your team and do what we do best: create hilarious controversy by trolling your playoff opponents. You'll get guest posts on your team from big name writers. We'll wave pom poms for your team on Twitter. You're buying the services of two hockey blogging pros and helping out some disadvantaged kids.

This is the sort of stuff BlackhawksDL got for their money:

Obviously, the Blackhawks are done after their loss last night, so the guys are looking for a new team. There's apparently stiff competition from Nucks Misconduct and a few other sites. Personally, seeing Lambert say positive things about the Flyers will be extremely gratifying, so I think we should get this done.

The poll closes in 24 hours, so we don't have a lot of time to raise the money. And it's likely to be over $1,000, since Nucks Misconduct already has that raised from their failed bid in Round 1. But hey... we're a bigger site than them, and we can do this if we put our minds/wallets to it.

I've set up a donation box on Eventbrite. If you're interested, donate as much or as little as you please. If we lose the bid, we'll either hold it for the potential of a Round 3 auction, or we'll just donate it to Flyers Charities on our own.

FINE PRINT: FYI, there's a small fee through Eventbrite. Details on the checkout page. On your invoice, the transaction will show up as "BSH" -- and on your bank statement, it'll show up as "BSH Store." You'll get a "ticket" in your email.... you can disregard this for obvious reasons.
