Guess the Flyers opening night roster, win a prize!

Will either of these players be on your roster?

The Flyers' looming cap issues made speculating on next year's roster fun sport even before the Bryzgalov acquisition, and now it's completely wide open. It's time to exploit that for some entertainment value.

We're going to have a guess-the-roster pool. To enter, go to the Cap Geek 2011-2012 cap calculator, fill out your best guess at the Flyers' opening night roster -- not necessarily what you want to see, but what you think the Flyers will do -- and show us the results in the comments.

After the jump we have the rules of the game and instructions on how to use CapGeek.

For full official contest rules, click here.

To enter, you must create a 22-man or 23-man roster on CapGeek and paste it into a comment on this article by 5 PM EDT on Wednesday, June 15. Only one entry per person. The prize for the winner is a T-shirt of their choice from the BSH store.

The scoring is as follows:

Roster points: One point is awarded for each player who is correctly identified as being on the Flyers' opening night roster.

Salary cap deduction: Two points are deducted for each $500,000 by which the submitted roster's actual 2011-2012 cap hit exceeds the actual cap. It is up to you to guess what the cap will be -- common estimates are in the $62-63M range.

Salary dump bonus: Two points are added for each player who a) played in 25+ games for the Flyers last year, b) is under contract for 2011-2012, c) is not in the Flyers organization on opening night, and d) is correctly left off of your roster submission.

RFA cap hit bonus: One point is added for each player who a) is scheduled to be a RFA in 2011-2012, b) is on the Flyers roster on opening night, c) is correctly on your roster submission, and d) has a cap hit within 5% of your prediction.

RFA departure bonus: One point is added for each player who a) played in 25+ games for the Flyers last year, b) is scheduled to be a RFA in 2011-2012, c) is not in the Flyers organization on opening night, and d) is correctly left off your roster submission.

UFA signing bonus: Three points are added for each player who a) is scheduled to be a UFA in 2011-2012, b) cannot currently negotiate with the Flyers, c) is on the Flyers roster on opening night, and d) is correctly on your roster submission.

UFA cap hit bonus: One point is added for each player who a) is scheduled to be a UFA in 2011-2012, b) is on the Flyers roster on opening night, c) is correctly on your roster submission, and d) has a cap hit within 5% of your prediction.

Trade acquisition bonus: Five points are added for each player who a) is currently under contract with another team for 2011-2012, b) is on the Flyers roster on opening night, and c) is correctly on your roster submission.

The winner will be selected and announced the day after the Flyers 2011-12 season begins in October.

How to use CapGeek:

Go to the 2011-2012 Cap Calculator above.

First, set your cap -- in the orange stripe near the top, change the salary cap from $59,400,000 to whatever you think it will be next year ($62.4M is a common number, but it could be more or less) and make sure the "Bonus cushion" box is unchecked. You don't earn points for this, but it will help you keep track of your proposed roster.

Go ahead and remove Ian Laperriere from the list, since we all assume he'll be on LTIR all year.

Add or subtract players to fill out your roster for next year. One caution: for people who are free agents (UFA or RFA), CapGeek will enter their cap hit from 2010-2011 and you will have to change it to what you think their new deal will be.

When you have a 22-man or 23-man roster that you're happy with, scroll to near the bottom of the page where it says "ROSTER" and click the "copy" button next to that. Then come here, type a comment, and paste your roster in to show us what you came up with.
