2011 NHL Awards: Ian Laperriere Takes Home Masterton Trophy
For the first time since I can remember, a member of the Philadelphia Flyers is the winner of a major NHL award. He might not have played a game all season, but Ian Laperriere was rewarded for his courage in the 2010 playoffs, winning the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy for dedication and perseverance.
He beat out Ray Emery, who would've been a perfectly worthy winner himself, and our other old friend Daymond Langkow, who returned from a horrifying back injury this year. Congrats Lappy. We love you and stuff. /sheds tear

Maybe it should read "reformedpenguinsfan" since I have retired my Lemeiux jersey ... and purchased an Orange and Black Pronger jersey.
Oh and why didn’t Grabner win the Calder … if he amassed 3497 points?

As soon as I saw Luc Robitaille was presenting the award I knew Lappy was going to win. The league did that intentionally.

I guess if I have to be named after a drunk driver, being named Pelle isn't so bad.

Yeah – let’s trade him! Brilliant. His value couldn’t be higher …. mostly because his value couldn’t be higher! (Stupid idea, y’all.)
Maybe it should read "reformedpenguinsfan" since I have retired my Lemeiux jersey ... and purchased an Orange and Black Pronger jersey.
Ian did well on the speech
But one of his teammates is apparently “Chris Pryor.”
Or is there really someone named that who helped Ian?
Taking credit for the first instantly anachronistic fanpost in TGP.
Meet your Director of Hockey Operations, Chris Pryor!

Hey, remember when NHL.com had Paul Holmgren as GM of the year at the quarter pole? And when they had him as GM of the year at the three-quarter pole?
Good times.

He got his nose fixed!
Lappy is God. Instant Flyers legend. Who, on our current team, is our Laperriere? our Glen Metropolit? or, to a lesser extent, our Arron Asham? Where’s our guy with both a brain and some balls? Hartnell? Uhhh… Betts? I don’t think so.
Spagett.
Like every single team has a Lappy? Come on, not even close. Whats your argument here? You asked who on our current team is our Lappy, Metro(??), Asham? Asham did nothing last year, couldn’t even get to 50 games played. And Metro wasn’t even able to stay in the NHL, I think he went to Swissland? Then you mention Betts, without adding Powe? I would say Powe is the closest to what you’re asking: great skater, blocks shots, likes to hit, and a very solid penalty killer. Sounds like a lappy in the making to me….
