This is going to sound a little unbelievable but there are forum posts in dobberhockey.com (yeah, never heard of it before either) from a user called 'playmaker26' where he/she essentially predicts the Carter and Richie trades, with unnamed inside sources. During the thread it comes out that the off-ice and leadership issues contributed strongly. Seems like they were "very disappointed" in Richards, especially. I didn't locate this very long and still ongoing thread, but saw it linked by someone else in the philly.com forum, a new poster and long-time lurker who felt compelled to post it. In May, the word was they would shop him, but the source didn't expect that Richie would get moved. They definitely wanted a big return.
I haven't been all the way through it yet. But by Post 86 -- linked at Philly.com above -- Playmker26 is repeating how strongly the off-ice and locker room issues were. He's also now addressing current rumors such as moving to the #2 pick, and the Stamkos thing. He's nixing the Stamkos thing and saying the Flyers are targeting #2 pick for Landeskog, if they can swing an appropriate deal.
In May he said Versteeg was basically safe, but they were disappointed in Carle and would shop him. Also:
Again, I have no idea who this guy really is, if he truly has an inside source, or if he simply got lucky. But it's kind of eerie that he essentially called this stuff on May 8. And Lombardi said he was talking with the Flyers since four weeks ago so there are things lining up.
It's an immensely interesting thread from Playmaker26, whoever he is. I'm still going through it, and it must be shared with y'all.
