Brian Boucher signs with Carolina Hurricanes
We kind of knew that Brian Boucher wasn't going to be back with the Philadelphia Flyers, and now we know where he's going to end up. According to Frank Seravalli and Bob McKenzie, Boosh has signed a two year, $1.9 million with the Carolina Hurricanes.
This works for me. I love Boosh, always will. He's a great guy and he gave it his all in Philly every time he pulled on orange and black. And Carolina? Well, I've always kind of liked Carolina. They treated Rod Brind'Amour pretty well.
He's still in the league, so good for him. Nice backup job behind Cam Ward there.

Yes, good luck, Boosh.
I always appreciated what you did here.

this will make Geoff cry if the previous news of today doesn’t first.

It didn’t make me cry.
- I didn’t want him back
- I knew he wouldn’t be back; and
- He got a two-year contract
That last bit is the best news.

I agree that this is good for Boosh. About the same salary, as now, right? Also, apparently Rutherford said that Ward needed more rest during the season. 20-30 games a season will work well for him.
Unfortunately, I’m guessing 4 of those will be against the Flyers :-((. But several others against the Devils. :-))
OT: Will Nitty still do as well against Winnipeg???
In preparation for NHL free agency, thinking of changing my screen name to Bhudde in 10OC.
Adios Boucher,
and good luck in Carolina. Through ups and downs on the Flyers, away from the Flyers, and back again, Brian Boucher is 100% class.
Good luck, Boosh. Maybe we’ll see you in another 10 years.

Best of luck
Class act, great guy, fine player. Feel free to come back anytime.
Maybe it should read "reformedpenguinsfan" since I have retired my Lemeiux jersey ... and purchased an Orange and Black Pronger jersey.
Give ‘em hell, Boosh!! No matter how many times you leave, you’ll always be a Flyer.

i’m gonna miss him. :(
but hey. he’s only been discarded and resigned by the flyers three (or so) times, right?
it could always happened again.

I’ll miss you man. Best of luck.

I’ll miss Boosh too, but what was most important to me was that he didn’t wind up an unemployed victim of this FA market. 2 year deal in a pretty good place is enough to make me happy. I always liked him, so I just want them to treat him well.

I lament Boosh leaving the Flyers. I think he would have a been a better backup than Bobs for the following reasons:
1. Trade Bobs, he is worth something.
2. We have Ilya Bryzgalof, why spend the effort getting Bobs to be a great backup and then loose him in a few years, trade him now.
3. Get a draft pick of a Goalie or two and start nurturing them to take over for Bryz
4. Boosh’s cap hit would be half of Bobs
5. Boosh is a proven backup.
6. Bobs isn’t being groomed as a backup, but rather a starter, trade him for some draft picks.
This looks like 6 variations of the same reason, but I’ll address them individually anyway.
1) If he’s worth something, wouldn’t he be worth keeping?
2) Who says Bryz stays until the end of his contract? Or that he’s the #1 starter until the end of his contract? Why can’t we groom Bob to be his replacement as starter?
3) Hmm…a goalie to start nurturing as a replacement for Bryz….how about Bob?
4) I can’t argue with this one.
5) “proven”? People love throwing this word around. What the hell does it mean? I’m a “proven” blog commentor, look at me go!
6) Back to my answer to #2, let him be backup while he’s groomed for a starting role. This seems obvious to me. I must be missing something because so many people think this doesn’t work.
