Danny Briere
Most Philly fans are worrying about the loss of scoring with the departures of ex-captain Mike Richards and Jeff Carter. But even with these two players gone, we still have the best pure goal-scorer on the Flyers; Danny Briere. Briere is the best pure scorer on the Flyers, and look for him to have his most productive season yet. Briere hit a high in goals last season, and once again performed great in the playoffs. I would not be surprised to see Briere hit the 80 poinr mark this season, and once again surpass the 30-goal plato. This is #48's team now, and it's his time to lead the charge offensively for the Flyers.

Briere seems more like an outlier of the team even moreso than Carter or Richards ever did. He seems like he’s best left to himself, much like Zherdev. He hardly seems like he’s ready to lead a team. I think if they’re going to name anyone the captain, it’d have to be Pronger. Briere will get the “A” if he’s lucky.
Spagett.
I’m a bit of a broken record here, but if Pronger isn’t healthy enough to take on the job, Kimmo is more than capable. It’s most likely Pronger’s job to lose, but if they don’t want to put the C in the press box at the beginning of the year, they certainly have at least one more option.
But as far as Briere goes, I’d hardly equate him to Zherdev. Bob specifically mentioned Briere as somebody who made sure he felt included (he said he got along with everybody, but the fact that he mentioned Briere first means a little something in my eyes), Briere gave a little motivational speech to his teammates during Game 6, and two years ago he won the Yanick Dupre award, given to the player who shows character, dignity, and respect for the sport, plus has a strong relationship with the media. I wouldn’t classify him as somebody who is best left to himself.

I don’t really see Kimmo as captain. I don’t doubt that he’s capable, but he’s made it pretty clear that his career is coming to an end very soon.
Why sign a new captain for a year? or two if we’re lucky.
I apologize if what I said is wrong/stupid. I'm still learning. Give me a chance! And by all means...correct me.
