Alright, shocking news here: The Philadelphia Flyers are going to be on NBC and Versus/NBC Sports Network a ton this upcoming season, as is the usual case. The Flyers tie with the Boston Bruins for the most appearances on the the two networks, totaling 13 over the course of the 2011-12 season. That includes the 2012 Winter Classic at Citizens Bank Park, which will reportedly be announced next week.

Opening night against the Bruins at TD Garden, when those jerks raise that damned banner, will be on Versus. Here's the full schedule, which doesn't include 13 games that will be broadcast on NHL Network in the US.

FLYERS, NHL ANNOUNCE NATIONAL TELEVISION BROADCAST SCHEDULE

The Philadelphia Flyers, in conjunction with the National Hockey League, announced today their national television broadcast schedule for the 2011-12 season. The Flyers have been scheduled for 13 national broadcasts - six on Versus, two on NBC and five to be televised either on NBC or Versus through the network's flexible scheduling option.

The Flyers will be in the national spotlight when they drop the puck on the new season on October 6 at Boston on Versus.  It's the first of five nationally-televised Flyers road games on Versus over the first three months of the season.  The city of Philadelphia will then be featured in two national NBC broadcasts in January when the Flyers host the New York Rangers on Monday, Jan. 2 and the Boston Bruins on Sunday, Jan. 22.

Over the rest of the regular season, the Flyers will be part of six additional broadcasts with the NBC Sports Group.  They will host the Tampa Bay Lightning in a national Versus broadcast on March 26, while the remaining five dates have the Flyers as an option for NBC's "NHL Game of the Week."  On those occasions - three games against Pittsburgh and one each against Washington and Detroit - the game is eligible to be selected for national broadcast on NBC in a weekend afternoon time slot.  If not selected, the game will be televised on Versus at its current scheduled time.

The Flyers will announce their complete local television schedule in the near future.
