Kate Smith is played at Yankee games any time there is no live performance of god bless america (about 95% of the time.) Please don’t be a ridiculous homer.
This team will be the death of me.
Seeing as how most of us live in/around Philly, I find it a little insulting that we should know what the Yankees play during their 7th inning stretch when they cannot get a live performer.

I come in peace to inform and enlighten. I think you’d concede that a negative reaction to this fact (even without knowing) is ridiculous. It’s an excellent rendition of the song and that’s why it is widely used. That’s that.

Sometimes it’s nice to live in a vacuum. Do you know how long it took me to realize people outside of Philly liked It’s Always Sunny?

Shame the Flyers don’t have exclusive rights to Kate Smith’s “God Bless America” (as ridiculous as that would be). Whatever, fuck the Yankees.

After reading the above comments, I googled it and found the wiki article about Kate Smith and her song. Apparently Yankee stadium has played it during every 7th inning stretch since Sept. 11, 2001, along with Dodger Stadium, Safeco Field (Seattle), and Turner Field (Atlanta). I don’t think they were trying to insult the Flyers, but support Patriotism.
Eh, it’s a different sport and I doubt it has the same effect on the players or fans. Que sera sera.
