Noebels Game Recap 9-24

Seattle based Flyer fan checking in. Just thought I'd chime in with some notes about "Nibbles", as Mrs. JCF refers to him. Last night was the season opener for the T-birds against bitter rival Portland Winterhawks. T-birds lost 6-3, keeping it close until the 3rd against a bigger more experienced team. Noebels played first line center. I don't recall him playing center last season. He also played on the first pp and first pk unit. Positionally, he seemed pretty sound. Nice shot block in the high slot on one of the pk's. Mrs. JCF chimed in that he looked very fast. He's very thin. This hampered him a bit in the defensive zone, I think. There were times when he was in the right place but unable to move guys off of the puck. He scored a nice goal, corraling a rebound at the top of the crease and stuffing it home. He distributed the puck well on offense, most times looking pass first. He was named the 2nd Star, and in the post game on ice interview said they "played stupid". He seemed pretty poised in the post gamer, it was nice to hear him speak candidly. We go to a lot of t-birds games, I'll try to post recaps when I can.
