Send a get well message to Paul Holmgren here:
Hmm…how about no. I mean I hope he gets better and I feel sorry he’s hurt but still…not going to happen. Good move by the organization though. Working for a team now gives me a whole other perspective on front office activities and marketing of teams. It really screws with you. Haha.
The Jets’ jerseys are really nice. I like the design of them a lot. That said, the logo is still pretty crappy, which is a shame. In all I don’t mind their colors or their uniforms but the logo is definitely the weakest part.

He thinks your a DBag because you pointed out that you have no interest in sending Homer a get well message. He felt that was best left unsaid, and saying it is douchey. So I wasn’t lost, I just think CCB came off as the biggest DBag in the room by far with his comment, but maybe that’s also because I know you personally and you may be the nicest person I know.

Dbag overall? No. But I do feel that that comment was rather douchey in nature, yes

I’m just curious as to why you would let your knowledge of the inner-workings of a sports organization corrupt the sentiment you feel towards Holmgren. If you weren’t going to send one, that’s fine, but I don’t see why you’d involve your perception of the Flyers PR into your thought process.

CCB noticed a non-sequitor and pointed it out. It’s akin to saying, “I don’t like Homer and bowled a 300 once”.
If working for a team means you no-longer have humanity and have to shoehorn what you do for a living in a post, I hope you working for the Altoona Curve was worth it, JO.
It’s not a non-sequitor to me. A. Homer got hurt. B. The organization set up a well-wishing system. C. I will not wish him well. D. Good move by the organization.
No where did I say that because I work for the office I wasn’t going to, I said I’m not going to and I think about PR/Marketing moves a lot more now that I work for a team.

Period means end of sentence...
…but not end of thought. Unless you’re job is constructing run-on sentences, periods are a break in a stream of consciousness and not a redirection.
On a related note, I will not pray for the players who died in Russia today. I know how PR works now that I ate cereal with fruit on it and bought a new glue gun.
You know what? You’ve now proven to me that you aren’t worth my time at all. Using a tragedy to call me a douche, in so many words, is abysmal. Have a good life.

I finished my thought on Homer and transferred to a new thought. Hence the period-end of sentence. My point was that it’s now hard not to think of things in mind-space of someone who works in the front office of a sports team. Everything thing you do is marketing and this is a good move. That’s all I’m saying. Maybe I didn’t articulate it well enough for you at 7:42 a.m. I’ll try to think of who will call me a douche next time.
It’s not personal against Homer, I wouldn’t do it for a lot of the guys on the team, and I don’t look down on anyone that would. There’s only like 3 guys I would do it for, most of them are gone now anyway.

I’ve talked to you through messaging and comments how many times? Do you truly think that this would take anything away from my opinion of you?
The answer is no, because I myself can be a douche at times too. If you called me a douche after I attacked someone, I’d say ok, understood. Don has done that plenty of times to me, he’s more or less of a gauge of sorts.

I will, because I would likely do it for if it was any other former player so there’s no reason not to do it now. Regardless of what he has done as GM and back when he was the coach, the best thing for the organization is for him to make a quick recovery. We don’t need to end up having this cloud the preseason.
If Homer is going to cease to be the GM of the organization, I think it should be because of what his successes or failures in the office of GM, and it needs to happen on the organization’s terms. Whether it ends with him resigning or with him being fired someday, it shouldn’t be because of a possibly innocuous bicycle accident. For all we know, he may have just been out getting some morning exercise, so for me this isn’t about Homer the GM, it’s about Homer the person.
I realize not everyone will agree with me here, but this is just my opinion.

He just isn’t going to let Paul know he feels that way. Seems fair.
I’m not going to because it seems like he’ll be fine, he isn’t a friend or family member, I don’t truly know him at all, and he is highly unlikely to ever return the favor to me unless we somehow form some unlikely friendship in the future. But that’s just the way I feel about these things in general, nothing personal. If it threatened his career and long term health, like what happened to Lappy, I’d probably join in.
You sir are a gentleman of four outs!
Everybody is entitled to their own opinion here, so it’s not like I’m holding it against you or Shaun or anybody else who doesn’t submit one. I didn’t mean to imply that I felt Shaun was actually wishing harm on him or that it was anything personal; I was trying to present the opposite viewpoint and illustrate why I was submitting it even when I’m not usually a Holmgren supporter.

I just thought you were reading in to Shaun’s comment with the second paragraph (or more so, really, that other people would read in to it), that’s why I block quoted. I didn’t want this turning in to a similar thing that has happened before around here with back and forth over GM bashing (CCB’s DBag comment has me on red alert). Then I just offered my opinion as to why I don’t jump on these things.
I’m also waiting for my get well card from all of you….

I realize perhaps I’m being a bit hypocritical in this regard. I’m attacking someone who voiced their distaste for Holmgren in a rather passive way, when I have been more active in voicing my distaste for certain players/people
However, in all of this, I would hope that if anything happened to Lavvy/Kat/Hugh Jackman, my first instinct wouldn’t be to say to everyone else: “no thanks”. Now maybe that’s because I don’t like heaping on my criticisms because someone is in an indefensible position (ie the hospital with broken ribs), or perhaps because I’m making an exception just because I’m on the defense in this situation, but I’d like to think that the insight into my reasoning buttresses my logic

Haha, if you really want one, I’ll send you one. I wasn’t presented with an opportunity to do so and then took the time so say “eh, I’m not going to send one”.
Maybe my opinion is altered by living so close to where the personnel live. Most of the organization lives within a ten mile radius, Homer being one of the closest. We eat at the same chinese place the team orders from all the time, shop at the same grocery stores, and the list goes on with bars and pizza places etc. Maybe there isn’t as much of a separation between the team and the community when you periodically pass them in the aisle at the grocery store when they’re grabbing a few things on their way home from practice. I’m not sure, I could just be used to it.

I know, and I think a lot of people around here know that, but new people don’t necessarily know that. Travis couldn’t very well leave that particular conversation laying around for Google to find, either. Maybe it’s tough for her to tell how strong her words sound without context… I miss her being around, though.

Oh I have no problem with Travis deleting that conversation at all (and think he should have for the exact reasons you mentioned), that’s not my issue. My issue is that people that know better either imply that people would actually wish harm on him, or specifically that she is serious about it; it’s ridiculous. It’s overkill at this point, and as long as these conversations are still taking place, I highly doubt she’ll post. I’m pretty sure I said I wanted to kick Snider in the balls or something along those lines over the whole go get me a goalie thing, I’m sure no one thought I would actually do that if I ever ran in to the guy.
You sir are a gentleman of four outs!
Not to be demeaning, but I’m on the same boat as you. They never have that option for an injured player, why for the gm? Thats not to say I wish him a fast recovery and hope he is alright, but just wondering what the logic here is
Following Dan Carcillo where ever he may go
Giving up isn't an option
When Lappy went down “It’s All About Lappy” had a Letters to Lappy campaign and I participated in that because he is one of my favorite players and he was hurt badly while in the act of giving his all for the team. Homer’s going to be fine from what I read and it’s not that big of a deal to me. I was one of the first people to comment on the original thread and I feel that is enough. Maybe I shouldn’t have said anything but hey more comments for people to read and enjoy I guess.

Does the organization have any plans for him at all? Guy has been playing really well for the past year and a half or so. Granted, the competition isn’t the best but his numbers have been pretty impressive. If the team does end up moving Bobrovsky i would love to see this kid get a look.
