Video: Chris Pronger's wife Lauren speaks about his concussion
I was going to write something to go along with this video, but I quickly realized that there's no point. You can just see the sadness in Lauren Pronger's face as she talks about the concussion problems her husband Chris is going through, and words don't really convey that. Just watch the video, via CSN Philly.
Concussions are just the worst. Get well soon, Prongs.

2 things:
1) doesn’t sound good, I along with everyone else here I’m sure wish him the best in his recovery.
2) what a smoke show she is.
2) what a smoke show she is.
She may be attractive, but her physical appearance isn’t really relevant to this story.

This may be the first time some have seen Lauren Pronger in the spotlight. While not necessarily relevant to the story, it is a natural and honest observation to make.
Ecstatic to be joing the Florida Panthers Organization!! Awesome day... Truly a dream come true.

Haha:)
And Jazzy probably isn’t reading this thread anymore, but I didn’t meant to come down so hard on him/her. I’m an avid reader of hockey blogs, and it just seems as though every time a woman comes up in a story, commenters feel obligated to comment/rate her attractiveness. I remember reading a story a few months ago about Mandi Schwartz (a hockey player who died of cancer last April) that included her picture. One of the first comments of the page was “Do Not Want,” which is totally disgusting.

I saw this last night. My heart aches for him, BAMF that he was on the ice; he’s still a human being.
My husband also said Pronger did very well for himself in the wifely department. Said he “outkicked his coverage,” but I told him that for a hockey player, Christopher is pretty fine.

Also don’t read the PD article or any of the national ones; they are just full of dumb posts like people saying “karma finally came for Pronger” and “I’ll feel sorry for Pronger when I see interviews from all the wives of the players he’s concussed.”
Funny, I don’t recall these types of comments when Scott Stevens was inducted in the HoF.

The comments on the Puck Daddy version of this interview are ridiculous. People are such a-holes when they can hide behind the anonymity of the Internet.

It’s like a car wreck. You don’t want to look, but it’s hard not to.

As someone who hates how dirty Chris Pronger has been through out his career, I still don’t wish ill on him. Never been much of a Pronger guy because of that, but he is a hell of a talent. Regardless, you still don’t wish these things on people. Also, I don’t think the Stevens comparison is accurate or needed to be made.

Yeah, well, I never liked Stevens, either, so I guess that’s where that came from. That PD shit just pisses me off.

Yeah. I think we in general judge these players as people based on brief moments on the ice during a game. We forget they are people outside of it that can be completely separate/different from who they are as hockey players.

I had the chance to meet Pronger during the pre-season and actually had some time to talk with him and I have to say, he was completely different then I would have expected. He was happy, talked about his morning skate (which had been the first time back on the ice since off-season surgery), and took the time to take a photo with my brother and I. Just a genuinely nice guy.
I know that, as passionate sports fans, we can base our opinions on other players sometimes off a moment that occurs in 1 game, or even 1 shift, but they are at work. They lead lives at home too. I understand why some dislike Pronger, the player, but Pronger, the man, is just trying to get through each day, just like the rest of us. Hopefully, the ignorance coming from some people isn’t as serious as they’d maybe like us to believe.
Jagr shoots, Jagr scores!!!!!!
I havnt been a fan of hockey for a very long time and I know that Pronger have been suspended a few time and he still plays with an edge, but is he really that much dirtier then most players?

He seems to be less dirty now, maybe because I route for the team he plays for (also he seems to keep his stick work below the throat now), but he has been pretty darn dirty through out his career. He has used his stick, skate, and elbows as weapons; in short, he was about as dirty as they come. Never really liked him because of it; when you swing a stick at someone’s head/throat, you lose my support as a hockey player for life.

I had a few concussions when I was in Iraq as an EOD tech; they are miserable to come back from, and I remember being terrified just to get out of bed every morning because of the risk of another concussion. It’s quite a fight to come back from, I just hope his wife keeps reminding him that his brain is more precious than any hockey game or team. I also hope that in whatever capacity he can stay with the team, he does. I know its been mentioned before, but a Lappy-esque role might be well suited for him.
She stands strong and forward-looking without sugarcoating. Admirable.

I would be surprised as well. And I hope he can come to terms with that decision.

That’s the impression I’ve gotten as well.

Sad to watch this. You can hear in her voice, and see in her face just how bad things really are. I wish Chris and his family all the best. Whether or not he ever returns to the ice, I only hope that he gets to a point where he atleast feels okay on a day to day basis.

I’m starting to think that retirement might be in his best interest. Hopefully he can overcome this to lead a normal life, even if that excludes playing again. Godspeed to the Pronger family.
Retirement
I hope you meant LTIR, cause getting over that cap hit if retired…
Clearly, we don’t need to be sewing the C on any other jersey this year, and we can forget about any triumphant return for the playoffs. This season’s for you, Chris, and godspeed in your recovery.
