I have to say

I’m way more excited about this than the Bruins game. I think it’s 24/7. 24/7 created a month’s worth of buildup and now you really view it as more than just an ordinary regular season game. Perhaps that plus the fact that we’re bigger rivals with the Rangers and that we hate the Yankees/Giants and that we are fighting here for first place in the Atlantic.

In any case, just hoping for good hockey. The game last year was kinda crap.

Simon Gagne AND Mike Richards may move between towns, wear new jerseys and call different arenas home but, at the end of the day, they will both always be Philadelphia Flyers.

One day Sean Couturier will win the Conn Smythe. You heard it here first.

oh and a Flyers win, but that goes without saying. Giroux needs to get the points lead back from Henrik Sedin.

Does Goes Brown was great as usual
June 23 – The Flyers trade popular stars Jeff Carter and Mike Richards to free up cap space to sign Ilya Bryzgalov to a massive contract, according to an announcement from someone who looks suspiciously like the casting director for HBO’s 24/7 series wearing a Paul Holmgrem mask.

From the comments
Jeff said…

Funny stuff as per usual. Loved it.

One serious note, the Mike Richards trade didn’t free up cap space at all. We got back roughly the same amount of dollars on the cap that Richards was earning thanks to Brayden Schenn’s bonus filled contract. We can only wonder why the Flyers actually decided to trade their captain (given that it wasn’t cap space).

Very sneaky, Detwiler. Very sneaky.

Bob.

Funny post TD, but, actually, I was arguing about cap space not being generated, and as I recall Geoff was arguing against me. As I recall, he said that the amount of cap space was near the 2011-12 JvR cap space.

/and no, I am not really “Jeff” either

GMAT verbal section question, Philadelphia sports version.
In 2015, which one of the following will prove to be a better investment?
(a) Ilya Bryzgalov's contract (b) Ryan Howard's extension (c) Mike Vick's extension (d) Greek bonds from 2009 (e) Papelbon's bloat deal

Oh, Travis

Bob turned 23 last September.

Go Bob, Go Flyers!

If Brzy doesn't do right by Bob I'll kick his $51 million ass across the WFC.
And yes, I'm a female redhead.

Sharks vs Nucks

Just got done reading how a drunk 40 year old woman took the opportunity of a Sharks goal to two hand a young girl in the back of the head knocking her forward and giving her a slight concussion. The young girls crime was wearing a Nucks hoodie and to make matters worse she also has a brain tumor. You have to read the article its over at Puck Daddy. I can’t stand fans like that I mean Razzing is one thing but you should never be touching anyone.

Wasn’t the quote from the offender something like, “I didn’t mean to hurt her”, rather than “I didn’t mean to hit her”?
Yeah, she’s a class act.

His brother’s rehab was probably the most boring part of last year’s 24/7.

Pair of interesting reads from Kevin Weekes (who I’m really starting to like) about Laviolette, Bryz, goalies, etc. He played under Lavvy and implied some things that we’ve talked about on here before about how he rides goalies, which is kinda cool.

It’s Bleacher Report. Of course it’s stupid.

Madly in love with Jaromir Jagr's brilliant smile and epic goal salute.

Matt Read for Calder!

Jeff Skinner, at 6 years old, is the youngest player in the NHL.

My mom, who doesn’t care about hockey at all, was able to pick out the name Bernie Parent with my only hint being “the Flyers goalie when they won two Stanley cups”.

Kinda proud of her.

I finally cracked and bought an iPhone… so now I have BSH everywhere that I go!! Also, some random worker at Target commented on my Phillies shirt this morning and was like “the Flyers are playing today in the Classic.”

I can’t wait for the game and I might join in the thread.

I’d say go to a store (like a Verizon store if that’s your provider) and try them out a bit. It’s how I picked which kind I wanted, because you can see all the sizes and features.
