Claude Giroux injury: Orange Jesus returns home for tests, says report

Matthias Kern

Claude Giroux's coming home. We won't say the "C" word yet, but we're worried.

They said it was minor. They assured us it was minor. He just stretched out his neck a bit, but he'll be fine.

Yeah, we'll see about that.

Claude Giroux is returning home to North America for "precautionary tests" after suffering a check to the head last week in a game for Eisbären Berlin in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga. That's the news from Oliver Koch at Hockeyweb.de, the first news outlet to report Giroux's original injury.

The Google translation of Koch's report indicates that Giroux will head to Atlanta for tests, a move that was agreed upon by Eisbären. Not that we really care what some team in Germany thinks about the situation at this point.

This was our biggest fear when Giroux signed overseas to play during the lockout, and now that it appears to be at least a bit more serious than was originally let on, I don't want Giroux touching the ice again unless it's with a Flyers logo on his chest. I'm sure Paul Holmgren & Co. feel exactly the same way.
