Flyers Acquire Pavel Kubina for Picks

So the Flyers picked up some more help on the blue line with the acquisition of defenseman Pavel Kubina from the Tampa Bay Lightning. The flyers ship out another pair of draft picks because the draft is for sissies anyway. After today's terrible 3rd period meltdown, something like this was all but a certainty.

So the Flyers have another defenseman. That's cool, but they'll probably need to free some space up in the salary cap. Welcome back Scrabble?

Details

We give up a 2nd round and a 4th round pick.

The second rounder is a conditional pick that the Flyers acquired from the Florida Panthers in the Kris Versteeg deal.

The Panthers have the right to make this either a 2012 or 2013 pick prior to the beginning of the 2nd-round of this year’s draft.

Kubina is in the final year of a two-year contract he signed with the Lightning in 2010 with an annual average value of $3.85 million. He will become an unrestricted free agent after this season.
