He spoke with the potential owner Greg Jaimeson on Saturday, but all has been quiet !!!
It has been reported that the prospective new owner of the Coyotes is $20-million short of the NHL's asking price and is searching investors to make up the shortfall. The NHL wants $170 million for the Phoenix Coyotes.
Despite Shane Doan's being 35 years old, I still feel he has plenty more to give over the next couple of years (Especially after seeing his performance in the playoffs).
If the uncertainty in Phoenix has finally made his decision clear, he would be a great addition to the Philadelphia Flyers. His leadership and work ethic would fit in perfectly with players like Giroux and Hartnell. Paul Holmgren should continue to pursue Shane Doan and try to sign him if at all possible.
Coming off a contract that saw him make 4.5 million/year, I would see it fitting for Philly to sign him at around 5.75 million/year for 3 years. Obviously, I feel that contract is a little high, but for an immediate impact player with his experience, at that price you can't go wrong ... or can you ?!
