Hey, let's talk about a hockey team that's ready to play hockey games.
We're just a little over 24 hours before puck drop between the Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday afternoon at the WFC. What will the team look like when the puck (finally, for the love of god) drops?
Forwards (14): Scott Hartnell, Claude Giroux, Brayden Schenn, Sean Couturier, Jakub Voracek, Matt Read, Wayne Simmonds, Maxime Talbot, Scott Laughton, Ruslan Fedotenko, Zac Rinaldo, Eric Wellwood, Jody Shelley, Tom Sestito.
Defensemen (7): Kimmo Timonen, Braydon Coburn, Nicklas Grossmann, Andrej Meszaros, Luke Schenn, Kurtis Foster, Bruno Gervais.
Goaltenders (2): Ilya Bryzgalov, Michael Leighton.
Injured (4): Danny Briere, Chris Pronger, Matt Walker, Marc-Andre Bourdon.
Call-up options from AHL at forward include Tye McGinn and Harry Zolnierczyk. Ben Holmstrom would be on this list if he weren't injured, too. On defense, Andreas Lilja tops the list and probably completes it, in all honesty. Brian Boucher is your insurance goaltender.
And what do we expect the lines to look like come Saturday afternoon? Bryzgalov would be your starting goaltender, obviously, with Leighton riding the pine.
Hartnell - Giroux - B. Schenn
Talbot - Couturier - Voracek
Read - Laughton - Simmonds
Fedotenko - Wellwood - Rinaldo
Scratches: Sestito, Shelley.
Timonen - L. Schenn
Grossmann - Coburn
Foster - Meszaros
Scratch: Gervais
Hockey! We're talking about hockey!
