Flyers zone exits: game 2 vs Montreal (with season totals)

Here are the Flyers zone exits from their second game vs Montreal

The third column is the # of exit attempts the player had at even strength. The fifth column (# of successful) counts how many times the player was able to successfully get the puck out of the zone, while column 6 is the # of successful exits that were with possession (carrying and successful passes).

93 JAKUB VORACEK 6 0 6 5 100% 83%

Just a few things that stand out to me

1) Voracek with another efficient performance in this stat, with 5/6 zone exits with possession.

2) While Hartnell was involved with 7 zone exit attempts at even strength, he sure had a tough time getting the puck out of the zone. 3/7 exit attempts were unsuccessful (i.e. puck didn't get out of zone) and only 1/4 of his successful exits were with possession.

3) Grossman led the way with 8 zone exit attempts, but only 3/8 were with possession. Not a great ratio, and something that unfortunately I think we will find to be a trend throughout this year.

4) The defensemen as a whole had a tough time clearing the zone with possession. Hopefully this is something that improves as time goes on.

Because zone exits have not been tracked in great detail before this year, we don't yet know at what rate most teams in the NHL are able to clear the zone successfully or with possession, so it's tough to make any definite judgements until much later in the season.
