Comparing Tyler Myers and Luke Schenn

Ok so there was a little bit of talk yesterday about whether Tyler Myers would be worth trading for or what it would take to get him etc. Out of interest I looked up his numbers on behind the net but to give some context I thought I'd throw Luke Schenns first four seasons in too, giving us someone to compare him to. Thinking that from this we could then start to get a bit of an idea of what his worth would be.

I think it's worth noting that Myers only played 55 games in 11/12 and has only played 31 this season. Whereas Luke Schenn played at least 70 games in all of his first four seasons so there is a slightly greater sample size when looking at his numbers.

I for one would like to try to get Tyler Myers given the awful state of our defence

The consensus in Buffalo is that his play has dropped off but I don't think the numbers reflect that although he does start in the offensive zone quite a bit which worries me. But as far as I can see he's played better than Luke Schenn had when we acquired him. I think that he has a wealth of potential and would most certainly be a quicker option than drafting and developing a defenceman and would almost certainly be a better option than over spending in free agency. I saw in the Flyby yesterday people suggesting a combination of Mez, Read and maybe some picks. With every other trade rumour I've been against giving away Read but I think that he's the most valuable piece we have that management doesn't have in the picture in the future. My only concern is whether that would be enough for Buffalo so I'm wondering what everyone else's thoughts are?
