I Am Coming Back To Collect Apologies

Earlier this year, I wrote a

column comparing two of the players on the Flyers who are competing for everything - line positions, ice time, money, contracts, and most importantly, the love of the fans.

Those two players were, of course, Brayden Schenn, and Sean C. I made the case with advance statistics, convincingly, that Brayden Schenn was the better of the two players, and should be receiving the better ice time and more recognition and love. Instead of contributing to the conversation, a lot of the participatnts of this form found it more valuable to troll, and laugh, and name call.

I have now returned to collect the apologies from those who can be demonstratably proven wrong through the use of even MORE advance statistics than were previously available, looking at the most importantly of games: the playoffs.

The playoffs are the point of the entire year. You either go big, or go home. It is starting to look like the odds of the flyers going to advance past the Rangers are pretty bad, and that is bad for the team. But why? Let's reevaluate our mortal rivals, Braden Schenn, and Sean C, and look for an explanation.

Sean C

TIME ON ICE: 100.7 minutes

CORSI ADVANCE STATISTICS RATING PERCENTAGE : 41.2%

SHOOTING SKILL PERCENTAGE: 3.2%

HOW LUCKY THE PLAYER HAS GOTTEN WITH THEIR OWN GOALIE WHILST ON ICE: 931 Save Percentages

GOALS FOR AND GOALS AGAINST: One (one) goal for, 4 goals against

Brayden Schenn

TIME ON ICE: 70.2 minutes

CORSI ADVANCE STATISTICS RATING PERCENTAGE : 51.4%

SHOOTING SKILL PERCENTAGE: 9.4%

HOW LUCKY THE PLAYER HAS GOTTEN WITH THEIR OWN GOALIE WHILST ON ICE: 919 Save Percentages

GOALS FOR AND GOALS AGAINST: Three goals for, three goals against

To summarize: Sean C has much worse numbers by the most advanced of statistics we could of used. He is slow, he can't handle the puck, he is less offensively talented, and the numbers show it. If we were to take all our shots at 3.2% for the whole series, we would be absoltutly screwed. It is impossible to have an NHL team that has players like Sean C and expect to be winning for this exact reason.

Mean while, You look at Brayden Scnehh. He, atlernetively, has a positive favorable CORSI rating percentage. It is the height of ignorance to deny that he is better than Sean C at this point. You have to ignore the goals scored, the eye tests, and the advance statistics, all out of some weird need to be right about something stupid that essentially all of you said with a lot of snark earlier this year. You are all not as smart as me when it comes to looking at hockey statistics, and I could of told you that a long long time ago.

So what do we do from here? Well, there are things that should happen on the ice and off the ice. First, Brayden Schenn has like half of an hour of time on the ice less than Sean C. That instantly has to change if we ever want the chance to expediate our offensive talent. Off the ice, people should have the man in them to admit that they were wrong about something, and that is why I am making this fan post.

I think the Flyers are going to win this game, and then win this series. Their CORSI advanced statistics ratings percentages have been better than I thought they would be. Go flyers, Go Brayden Schenn, teach something else to Sean C when you get a minute.
