It's that time of the year folks. Yep, The Flyers are over the cap. The cap rise was lower than expected and Vinny probably won't be going anywhere since the stupid Predators backed out and signed Olli Jokinen to a deal (Have fun with that James Neal)
The Flyers need cap space and the best way to do it is by buying out Luke Schenn. Schenn really hasn't blossomed into the Shutdown D man that everybody was hoping he'd be when JVR was let go for his services.
Slow, prone to costly turnovers and little offensive upside. That is Luke in a nutshell.
2.7 Million would be opened up as soon as Schenn left with a cap hit of only $558,333 per season on the books from 2016-2018. Not horrible.
It would mean a prospect would most likely have to replace him. I'd go with either Morin or Hagg.
