Has the season even started? Early scheduling is a joke

The NHL needs to take a harder look at their scheduling practices.

Breaking Down the Flyers 2009/10 Schedule

The Flyers complex 2009/2010 schedule is broken down.

2009-2010 NHL Schedule released; Flyers open at Carolina

In a very interesting start to the season, the Flyers will play their first 5 games against playoff teams from the year before, and 9 of their first 11 with the other two coming against 9th place finisher Florida. Key dates: October 6 vs. Washington; October 8 vs. Pittsburgh (rest of dates: 12/15; 12/17; 1/7; 3/27); October 10 vs. Anaheim; January 1 at Boston (Winter Classic); April 4 vs. Detroit; April 11 vs. NY Rangers (second half of a home-and-home to close the season). Longest homestand: 6 games, starting January 19th. Longest roadtrip: 6 games starting December 23rd.

NHL schedule, Winter Classic announced today

The NHL, the media, and several Flyers players and personnel will gather at Fenway Park in Boston today at 2 PM for what the league is calling a "special announcement." If that's not a definitive sign that the Flyers will play the Bruins on New Years Day in the Winter Classic, it's hard to say what else is. The entire schedule will reportedly be released at 3 PM today, as well. It is usually announced the day after the MLB All-Star Game, the only day on the calendar where there are no major pro games in the United States.
