Abbreviated preview today because my Internet isn't cooperating at all.
After a game that could be considered a trap game in Toronto on Thursday night, the Flyers will head into the Verizon Center red this afternoon for a crucial benchmark matchup against the Capitals. The Caps are one of the leagues' highest scoring teams and they'll see fresh blood today as Ray Emery makes his return to the lineup.
The Caps have undergone a major change since the last time the Flyers saw them, which was a plain old beating in Peter Laviolette's debut back in early December. That was Emery's most recent game. Their captain was traded and the 'C' was obviously sewn on the chest of Alex Ovechkin. Most of us probably never even realized who their captain was anyway, so who cares?
Scott Hartnell and Darroll Powe are both expected to be in the game today, coming off the flu and an 'upper-body injury,' respectively.
After the jump, questions to answer, the starting goalies, and our in-game discussion.
Questions To Answer
- Matt Bradley's been a little fighting machine lately, taking on Steve Downie in defense of Ovechkin the other night. Does he remember getting his face bashed in by Dan Carcillo, and does he do anything about it? Or does anybody else do anything about it?
- The Flyers surely remember the 8-2 drubbing at the hands of the Caps from over a month ago. In that game, they came out flat and Emery looked terrible, likely due to injury. Do they show a different type of hunger from the outset today?
- How does Emery look? Using the small sample size of one game, can we determine if his injury the real cause of his poor play before heading to the IR?
8 minutes. Over or under on Ole-Kristian Tollefsen's ice/not getting injured time?
Today's game is on CSN Philly and CSN Washington, predictably. Listen on 610 WIP and, as always, join us here for the conversation. LET'S GO FLYERS!
