Goodbye, Alumni Game goalie jokes.
Mark LaForest and Neil Little are going to have to make way in the Winter Classic Alumni Game for Bernie Parent, the best goaltender to ever suit up in orange and black. He might be 66 years old, but that won't stop him from playing in the game on New Year's Eve. The Flyers announced today that he'll be on the ice in uniform for the game.
He'll only play about five to 10 minutes between the pipes, but that's better than nothing. LaForest and Little combined to play less than 100 games with the Flyers in their careers, so it's nice to have some actual representation at the position, and it'll be awesome to see Bernie strap on the pads again.
Also of note: Ron Hextall has been added to the Alumni Game roster as an off-ice Ambassador. We're not sure what that means, exactly, but he'll at least be part of the festivities now. He can't play in the game because of reported issues with his back.
