Charity is good. The Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation is wonderful. Thus, Broad Street Hockey is teaming up with our blogfriends over at Flyers Faithful to host a two-day roller hockey tournament that will benefit ESYHF. Here's all the pertinent information, because you know you're already excited.

  • What: 2012 Broad Street Hockey and Flyers Faithful Roller Hockey Tournament
  • Where: Wesley Bishop Park Rinks (two rinks!) in Moorestown, N.J. Address is 1248 N Church Street.
  • When: Saturday, May 5 and Sunday, May 6, 2012 from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. both days. Yes, that's 52 total hours of roller hockey. Rain date information will be announced at a later time.
  • Why: To raise money for the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation.
  • Registration: We are working on a registration form now and will have it live soon.
  • Teams: Each team must consist of 11 players: six forwards, four defensemen and one goaltender. There will be a limit of 24 teams overall in the tournament, and each team will be guaranteed at least three games. You must be 18 or older to play. Sorry, kids.
  • Fees: $20 per person to register or $200 to register as an entire team.

Other stuff of importance after the jump. You should read it all, because it is important. Important. Important. Keep reading. It's important. There's even stuff about winning a cool trophy ... and money.

- If you register as an individual, you will be auto-drafted on to a team, but you can request to be paired up with certain people if you wish.

- Once registration is complete for the event, we will post the bracket and schedule for your team.

- The winning team will get $1,000, a trophy and unlimited Internet bragging rights. The remaining money will go to the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation.

- Teams must coordinate to wear the same color shirt/jersey. You might want to avoid wearing orange and/or black, as we hear those are popular colors amongst hockey fans in our area.

- We are working to find a sponsor who will donate some light food and drinks to keep you energized, but bringing water and some snacks is highly encouraged.

- There will likely be a 50/50 raffle, and hopefully we'll be able to acquire some goodies to give away at the event too.

SPONSORS! If you're interested in sponsoring the event, contact Marcello over at Flyers Faithful. He's good people.
