Flyers vs. Panthers preview: Lineup in flux as Philly looks for second win

The Flyers are in South Florida to take on the Panthers on Saturday evening.

Joel Auerbach

The Flyers lineup will again be in flux this evening as they look for win number two on the year in a matchup against the Florida Panthers. The biggest news? Danny Briere is a game-time decision and could play, and Eric Wellwood has been sent down to the Phantoms to make room on the roster.

Anthony SanFilippo has a great breakdown on the roster moves over at the Flyers' website, but in a nutshell, the Flyers seem to like Tye McGinn more than Wellwood and Scott Laughton is now a virtual lock to stay on the team for the full season.

Mike Knuble will make his Flyers re-debut tonight, wearing No. 9. Brayden Schenn is back from suspension and, according to reports, will play with Knuble and Ruslan Fedotenko tonight. The lines are generally up in the air, though, as it all depends on Briere's status. If he plays, he could get top line time. Andreas Lilja has been recalled, but he'll likely sit as the seventh defenseman tonight and both Bruno Gervais and Kurtis Foster will be out of the lineup. Andrej Meszaros is out.

It's a patchwork roster, but the Flyers beat the Rangers on Thursday in a similar situation and Florida's a considerably more awful hockey team. The Panthers will be without Kris Versteeg and Stephen Weiss, so the Flyers aren't the only shorthanded team hitting the ice tonight. Here's Florida's lineup:

Fleischmann - Mueller - Kopecky
Huberdeau - Matthias - Kovalev
Shore - Howden - Upshall
Skille - Smithson - Parros

Campbell = Kuba
Kulikov - Weaver
Jovanovski - Ellerby

It'll be Scott Clemmensen vs. Ilya Bryzgalov in goal.
