Tuesday Morning Fly By: And so begins the Craig Berube era.

Today's open discussion thread, complete with your daily dose of Philadelphia Flyers news and notes...

Christopher Szagola-US PRESSWIRE

*So yesterday was kind of interesting, no? Travis covered all the angles of the Laviolette firing, and you can read them here.

*Naturally, there are reactions and opinions from all over the place. Puck Daddy thinks Lavi is a fall guy, Mr. SanFilippo says this makes perfect sense, TSN highlights the vote of confidence Laviolette received from the organization recently, Sean McIndoe thinks this is hilarious, SB Nation thinks it's pretty funny too, Pens fans think the organization is full of idiots, Meltzer thinks this was probably overdue, and the Philly media is probably just glad the team didn't announce this via twitter.

*Just what kind of coach will Craig Berube be? (BSH)

*We'll get to see how Coach Berube handles this team without any delay though, as the Panthers are in town tonight for a 7PM start. Should be interesting; preview the game here, check back later for the BSH write-up.

*At the press conference yesterday morning, Ed Snider vehemently defended the team "culture". It was the kind of un-self aware reaction you really only get from someone who doesn't hear "no" very often in his professional life. (

*Claude Giroux needs to find his game. And quickly. (ProHockeyTalk)

*Ed Snider also pointed out that the entire team has looked like crap through preseason and these first three games. (CSN Philly)

*In positive Flyers-related news, Scott Laughton is killing it in the OHL. (

*The NHL says it will keep a close eye on the spin-o-rama shootout move, hates things that are fun/exciting. (ProHockeyTalk)

*A helpful guide to the NHL waiver process. (Litter Box Cats)

*Kerry Fraser uses an example from the Flyers-Canadiens game to illustrate how and why officials determine face-off location. (TSN)

*Taking a look at the facts to see if fights really do deter bad behavior in the NHL. (Pension Plan Puppets)
