Mark Alt left the University of Minnesota a year early to pursue his professional career. He was a big part of the Golden Gophers defense last season and would have been an even bigger part of it had he remained in college, but the risk of jumping to the pros early was one Alt was willing to make at age 21.
He's still hoping to be a big part of the Adirondack Phantoms defense this fall in the AHL, but those plans took a turn in Monday's Capitals vs. Flyers rookie game. Alt suffered a concussion on a hit from Caps prospect Tom Wilson. In a meaningless rookie game. Just the worst.
INJURY UPDATE: #Flyers (D) Mark Alt suffered a concussion in today's Flyers-Capitals rookie game. More to come in the game recap.

Let's hope it's not that serious and that Alt is fighting for ice time in Adirondack before we know it.
