The Noon Number: 152

New, comments

The Flyers have lots of guys who can score goals. That's a good thing.

Elsa

152 - the number of goals scored, combined, by Wayne Simmonds (26), Claude Giroux (25), Jakub Voracek, Matt Read (21 each), Scott Hartnell, Brayden Schenn (20 each) and Vincent Lecavalier (19).

With Schenn's two goals last night, he became the sixth Flyer this year to score at least 20 goals -- tops among all NHL teams. And with Lecavalier's goal last night, he reached 19 goals this year -- bringing him, of course, one goal away from becoming the seventh Flyer this year to score 20 goals.

You could maybe argue that this is a bit of a quantity-over-quality case -- that mark of 152 goals is only the ninth-best among NHL teams if you're stacking up total goals scored by a team's top seven goal scorers -- but still, having this many guys who can put the puck in the net is pretty much reflective of the scoring depth that we were hoping we'd see at the beginning of the year. Good to see it's come to fruition.

The chart below shows how the Flyers stack up with other teams in the league. Columns are sortable.
