*So remember how we all felt something almost resembling hope after that good showing against the Lightning? It's gone and we're bad again. Here's a recap of Saturday night's tire fire. Tonight, it all comes home for the second game in the home-and-home against Florida. Here's hoping it goes a bit better this time. 7PM start, woo!

*After the game in Sunrise, the Flyers held a players-only meeting. Two games into the season. Good stuff. [Inquirer]

*Dave Hakstol spoke with the media after the game. [Flyers]

*So least R.J. Umberger looks better so far this year. There's that. [Inquirer]

*In Lehigh Valley Phantoms news, Colin McDonald was named the team's first-ever captain. [BSH]

*And in sadder Phantoms news, defenseman Logan Pyett has been diagnosed with cancer. Get well fast, kid. [BSH]

*Hextall spoke about Pyett's condition. [Flyers]

*Ray Emery has joined an AHL team on a PTO. Good for him! [CSN Philly]

*Let's get to know a division rival in the Washington Capitals. [Pattison Ave]

*Speaking of the Caps, Alexander Ovechkin is kind of good at hockey. [SB Nation]

*This piece by the commissioner of the new NWHL is pretty awesome. [The Players' Tribune]

*Over the weekend we saw a lot of ugly related to the settlement reached by the LA Kings and Mike Richards. Most notably was Kings GM Dean Lombardi deciding to tell us how hard this was for him and what a jerk Mike Richards is for being a sick person. [LA Times]

*And finally, Mike Commodore was really mad online this weekend. It was....really weird. [The Score]
