Shayne Gostisbehere's goal vs. Toronto was Nicklas Lidstrom-esque

The play that led to the goal -- not necessarily the goal itself. (Although that was pretty too.)

Shayne Gostisbehere is special. We all know this. But just how special a hockey player he will become is yet to be determined, and there's certainly a long way for him to go before we start comparing him to Nicklas Lidstrom, or other Hall of Famers.

That said, this is fun:

That comparison comes from Prashanth Iyer, who writes about the Red Wings over at Winging It In Motown. So he knows Lidstrom pretty well. And if he's making that comparison, there must be something to it.

Again -- we're not saying Ghost is Lidstrom or anything. But the as Iyer points out, the awareness in the defensive end that led to his goal last night was indeed Lidstrom-esque. That's worth appreciating.
