PHILADELPHIA (SB Nation Wire Service) — The #Number1HockeyBoy Panel on Friday released its latest rankings of the Number 1 Boy in Hockey. It’s just second installment of the rankings in the month of November following a one-week hiatus, for which the committee cited “environmental concerns.”
Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere, known by the panel as “The Blood Sacrifice”, has been named the Number 1 Hockey Boy for November 18, 2016. Rounding out the Top 3 are forward Claude Giroux, a.k.a. “Cap’N Crunch”, and forward Travis Konecny, a.k.a. “The Konnectoral College”.
Gostisbehere earns the honor just one day after being demoted to Number 20 Hockey Boy in the eyes of Flyers head coach Dave Hakstol. The coach, while otherwise influential in the Philadelphia hockey community, does not vote on the Number 1 Hockey Boy panel.
The previous Number 1 Hockey Boy poll on November 4 resulted in an unprecedented tie, with Giroux and defenseman Radko Gudas sharing the honor. Gudas is Number 8 Hockey Boy in the new rankings.
